Nova's SUV pulled into the driveway of her Aunt Cass' home as the clock struck 8:30 am.

This gorgeous house had been her second home for many years.

She had once lived on her own in a studio apartment not too far away. But after Jenn passed away, Nova broke her lease and moved in with Cass.

With how fast everything progressed and fallen apart so quickly, it was too much to process.

Nova could no longer handle living on her own after everything that happened surrounding Jenn's sudden passing.

Neither could Cass.

Even though Elle had a condo (a gift from both her parents after graduating college with honors), she spent more than half of the week at this house with her mother and Nova. Typically she went to her place when she needed a quiet space to work or to do laundry.

Now a year later, Nova realized that it was time to move on. Stand on her own two feet once again. It was finally at that point for her to begin a new chapter in her life.

Missing the desert life that she grew up with, Nova made the decision to move out on her own by relocating to Las Vegas. She had purchased a home earlier in the year and had it renovated over the summer and fall months. Both she and Elle would fly over a couple of times a month to check on the status.

Right around Veterans Day, everything was finished and ready for her to move in.

With Kosmos being hired by BTS to handle the scheduling and execution of the events during their two-plus week stay, Nova chose to wait until mid/late December to officially move in. Since the renovation included the installation of furniture and appliances, there wasn't much for Nova to move from California to Vegas.

Nova purchased this home for herself, but Elle still had claimed a room promising to stay as often as she possibly could. Somewhere she could work remotely whenever she needed a break from LA. All Elle needed to convince Nova was to promise to cover groceries and utilities whenever she stayed.

There were many reasons for choosing Las Vegas.

First and foremost, it filled her need for desert living without being too close to her birth family. It was close enough to the state that she was born and raised in but was nowhere near her toxic past. That was still a state away in Arizona. Thankfully for her, Vegas was a place they avoided at all costs.

Las Vegas was also a booming entertainment hub. Before COVID, Jenn had opened up a small satellite office for Kosmos in Sin City. With a brand new NFL stadium being opened, major sports teams relocating, and more concerts popping up, it was the perfect opportunity to expand Kosmos. Vegas was the best city to expand to.

Unfortunately, expansion was put on hold in 2020 after COVID took over. The employees that were already hired were encouraged to stay in Vegas where they could work remotely or in the satellite office. Now that the world was slowly reopening and beginning to return to a new normal, Nova made the decision to relocate and help their company take root in the new city.

What transpired the day before changed the trajectory of Nova's career. There was a new contract and agreement signed along with a major change in leadership and responsibilities.

A path had diverged in the wood. Nova had no idea where it lead yet it was the only path she wanted to take.

So much happened in a short amount of time yesterday but before she could properly digest it all, there was one person who she needed to speak about it with. Face to face.

Cass.

Cass had no influence or investment in Kosmos. Jenn had intended it that way. She wanted her marriage separated from her business. Not that she didn't trust her business with Cass, it was solely based on the conviction that she never wanted to mix her business and pleasure.
