Jin didn't need to check his phone when it buzzed on his nightstand. He knew exactly what the alert would entail. Thankfully it was released in the evening when he was at home relaxing with Nova, just as he and his brothers requested.
As a group, they agreed to hold off on announcing their intentions regarding military service until after the Busan concert was over. This way their fans could focus on enjoying the concert and not be distracted by what was on the horizon.
Jin was adamant about waiting until sometime in the evening when it would be too late for news outlets to broadcast it until the next day. This way it would allow time for their fandom to digest the announcement before the bloodthirsty media would try to take over the narrative.
Most of all, Jin wanted to make sure he and Nova were alone when the news broke. She had been holding it together rather well, but Jin knew how much all of this had been eating her alive. This was the moment - outside of him leaving - that she had been dreading.
For that reason, Jin requested that unique time for the official announcement. He wanted to ensure that he was alone and at home with Nova so he could give her the love and reassurance she would so desperately need. She didn't know when the news would exactly drop, just sometime the week after the concert.
They had already turned in for the night when both of their phones began to buzz. Jin was in his signature Good Day pajamas while Nova wore his Bad Day pajama top with a pair of his black designer-brand boxers.
Since returning to Korea a few weeks prior, Nova insisted on wearing his clothing whenever they were chilling at home. Although this meant he was having to do laundry more frequently, he was not complaining, not one bit. Jin gave her free rein of his wardrobe. His favorite being when she would wear his hoodies on around the house, with nothing else on underneath.
Leaning up against the headboard of his bed while playing on his switch, Nova was writing in her journal. A habit she picked up while under the care of Gavin earlier in the year. This daily practice was extremely helpful in keeping her emotions in check, especially during stressful times.
Just like they were about to endure.
The moment the notifications went off on both of their phones, Nova dropped her journal. Her pencil clattering onto the floor below. She did not need to look at her phone. She knew that the announcement had finally dropped.
The phase of her relationship that she was dreading was finally here.
Leaning her head against the headboard, the tears began to freely fall down her cheeks as she closed her eyes. But in that same moment, she felt Jin's soft lips kiss away each tear before slowly moving towards her mouth. Nova let out a choked sob as his lips captured hers.
She melted into his touch as his arms wrapped around her torso, bringing her into his lap. Releasing their kiss for just a moment, he rested his forehead on hers as his thumbs began to gently wipe the last of her tears from her cheek.
