One year after the loss that rocked her life, Nova Kim finds herself struggling to return back to normal without the one person who kept her stable throughout the ups and downs of her life. Life is a struggle as she learns to navigate the world with...
"Nova? Can you go to conference room 2B? Soo-Young wants to speak with you."
"Thanks Mark, tell her I am on my way."
Sitting in a secluded hallway of the hotel's conference center, Nova looked up from her iPad when the PA from the HYBE managerial staff stuck his head in looking for her. She thanked him before gathering her belongings to head out.
The day had been packed with last-minute preparations for an extremely busy day. Nova was surviving on her to-do list and caffeine. Taking a few moments to herself, she went through her list on the iPad before getting ready to leave.
Already dressed in a black pantsuit and hair styled in a sleek ponytail with minimal make-up, she was using the few moments to herself before the staff made their way to the Microsoft Theatre.
It was finally the day of the American Music Awards and Nova's first big event with BTS.
The past few days had been packed with behind-the-scenes work preparing for today's event along with the filming with Corden later this week. However, today was a little different as it was her first public event with the group.
Today's event was where she would finally be able to demonstrate the breadth of her skills.
Even though she had worked remotely with her HYBE counterparts for a few months now, this was her opportunity to truly show that they made the right choice in hiring Kosmos and making her the point person.
This wasn't the only reason her schedule had been rather busy as of late.
A certain Korean idol had slowly crept his way into her life by taking up all her free time.
It didn't bother her one bit.
After bursting into her room upon hearing her cry a few days prior, the two of them bonded. Interestingly enough, it didn't phase Nova when Seokjin caught her crying over his song.
It ended up being the catalyst that sparked their friendship.
After startling her with his abrupt entrance, Jin grabbed tissues to dry her tears before starting a conversation about the inspiration behind Epiphany and his other solo songs. Getting emotional himself, Seokjin spent time explaining his headspace when the songs were written and what it was like to perform them live.
Feeling touched by his vulnerability, Nova in turn opened up about her experience being neurodivergent along with briefly touching on the trauma of her past and Jenn's impact on their life.
By the end of their time together that day, both felt comfortable enough to share baggage that they typically kept to themselves. The entire exchange allowed the two of them to feel safe and willing to be open and vulnerable toward one another.
The personal stories helped open the door, but a small ankle tattoo cemented their new bond.
Setting down her laptop, Nova brought her legs up into the couch so she was now in a pseudo-cross-legged position. This movement caused the legs on her joggers to lift and reveal a small tattoo on the inside of her ankle.
