For the first time in many months, Elle was content. Her heart was at peace and she had a genuine smile on her face.
It was not an easy path to reach this point and she still had a way to go in redeeming herself. During that recent dark time, she had burnt many bridges causing borderline irreversible damage. With the help of her therapist and Yoongi's quiet support, she was on the path of making amends. This journey was not pleasant, but she refused to give up.
Although Elle felt like it wasn't deserved, she received a second chance in the form of a simple email as she was about to leave Vegas. Elle was left speechless, just flabbergasted upon realizing that she received not one, but two employment contracts from BigHit along with a voucher for a one-way ticket to Seoul, luxury class.
It was evident that Yoongi had refused to give up on her or their 'relationship'.
Still choosing to return to Seattle after her stint in Vegas, Elle gave herself six weeks to get her affairs in order. During that time she did intensive therapy, soul searching, packed up her life, and completed a mountain of paperwork in order to obtain a South Korean work visa. Once she felt prepared in every aspect, Elle booked her ticket and signed the employment contract.
Even Cass flew up north to help Elle pack and promised to play nice with her father so she could spend her final days in America with both parents. A rare but beautiful treat.
Barely a week later, she arrived in South Korea. Ready to begin her new life in a different country.
Although Yoongi was the sole reason she had this fresh start in Seoul, Elle had not prioritized seeing him. She had been there just short of a week and did what she could to push off their reunion as long as she could. Even though they both were extremely busy, that was only just an excuse.
In all honestly, she was scared of being rejected.
Looking from the outside in, it seemed like a ridiculous concern to have. He clearly was behind all the good that had been practically dropped in her lap. Giving her all these amazing opportunities that she didn't feel worthy enough to receive.
Elle's insecurities still got the best of her.
Yoongi was the first man that she had truly fallen for. He was not a quick fuck or someone she kept around for a good time. Never was and never would be. He was much more than that. After everything he had done for her along with the patience that he had shown her time and time again, Elle had continued to fuck it up.
Elle couldn't help but worry about the extremely slim possibility that Yoongi could potentially reject her, even though his actions continued to speak otherwise.
That is the nature of anxiety. It never acts rationally.
This particular morning, bravery finally usurped her anxiety and fears. The boost of confidence courtesy of the metaphorical olive branch given to her by one Kim Namjoon. He personally requested her assistance in writing a response to the media's overreaction and misinterpretation of their FESTA dinner.
This simple act was the wake-up call she so desperately needed.
Taking the initiative, she sent a simple message that morning inviting Yoongi to join her as she assisted Namjoon that morning. Looking at her phone, she stared at the message he just sent informing her that he had arrived at HYBE and was parking his car. Taking a deep breath, Elle realized she needed a moment to herself before their long-awaited reunion.
"Namjoon?" Elle asked as she looked up from her phone, "You okay if I step out for a moment?"
The rapper looked up from his laptop, glasses perched on his nose. He was spread out on the couch in his studio while Elle had commandeered his desk chair. A chair in which she enjoyed spinning around in while they chatted.
