'Why does her caring so much make my heart race?'
"Am I?" Lady Bela stopped her actions before I shook my head.
"Uh, n-no," I chuckled and moved my wings. "I don't know how to describe this to vampires, but... Well, were you three always like this?"
"...No," Lady Bela muttered, moving closer to stitch a wound on my shoulder. "We were human once — not that it should matter to you."
"Well, it makes the explanation a bit easier. Do you remember how warm you could be as a human?"
"How warm you are? Yes."
"I'm a lot warmer than most humans — I can assure you of that. But yes, let's go with that. Imagine going from my warmth to your cold in milliseconds. That's what using the shadows to heal is like — but it's my only method of self-healing. A blessing from the god of medicine."
"...Are you related to him?"
"If you're asking if my father is Zeus, the answer is 'no' — if he were, I would still be celebrating on Olympus. I... can't tell you who my father is just yet, but it's not Zeus. You have three more options."
"Three?!"
"...Okay, two but that's because it's obvious the third one isn't my father..."
"How would it be obvious?" Lady Daniela inquired as her sister moved to the other side of my body, letting her begin wrapping my wounds.
"Uhm... I would be half horse."
Silence filled the air after I said that, making me clear my throat. "It's uh... We don't talk too much about it. Or think too much about it"
"We can see why."
Hours passed before every wound was dealt with and the ladies helped dress me — the thin clothing would've made most humans shiver, but having your father be the ruler of the Underworld has its perks. I winced after the ladies set me on the makeshift bench, the pain finally catching up to me. 'Hunter's going to kill me for giving them so much information-,'
"Kiddo, we need to talk," Apollo's voice echoed in my head, concern lacing each word.
'That's... never been good, Apollo.'
"Once those three leave, we need to talk."
'Ugh, fine, but I won't like it.'
"...You're right..."
'I hate when you're ominous.'
"Something wrong?" Lady Cassandra inquired as her sisters moved to the exit. "And are you sure you're fine with us carrying you?"
"I... just had a thought I'd rather not think about," I laughed awkwardly. "But, as long as you don't drop me, then we'll be fine."
"You're too cute to drop."
Although she muttered that, I still caught every word and felt pride swell in my chest when she lifted me. I winced as I wrapped my arms around her neck, trying my best to ignore the burning pain while she carried me to catch up with her sisters. Once we were next to them, we all started the journey to my room — a journey I couldn't wait to end.
My eyes squeezed shut in pain when Lady Cassandra moved me to my bed, a soft whimper leaving me in the process. The vampire froze immediately — her grip loosening on my body as I trembled. I slowly let my arms slide from around her neck, wincing slightly when her hand brushed over the scar where my right wing hid. Her hand moved away quickly, a soft apology escaping her in the process.
