"Isa... Why are you on fire?"

I let out a nervous laugh and looked away from her. "Oh, I hate my existence."

"What was that?"

"I-I said-! Lady Daniela showed an interest in my past — in my story — and it... Flustered me."

The lady managed to hide her smile, but not before I caught it. "You burst into flames when you're flustered?"

"I can hear that smile."

"And what about it?"

"...Yeah, I do," I sighed as the flames died down. "Oh, NOW you want to listen to me!? I try not to do it indoors — especially here on Earth — but when I get really happy it's hard to control my powers. Having someone interested in my story is... New."

"Will you be telling these stories to Daniela on your breaks?"

"Uh... I-I suppose so, yeah. Or while I'm cleaning if she happens to be in that room at the time."

"Yeah?"

"I-I mean-!?! Yes, my lady."

"...You didn't damage the floor."

"Huh?"

"I said; You didn't damage the floor. Look. No soot, no burn marks, just the floor, and carpet."

"And blood," I pointed out.

"Well, now you see what you have to clean?" The lady smiled and sent a chill down my spine.

"I-I do, my l-lady," I chuckled out before she left. 'Is this what Zeus feels whenever Nyx is around?! ...Nah, this is respect. He fears Nyx.'

"Okay, Isa... Just be a normal maid. Clean rooms in the castle, cook... food... Huh." I stopped in my path to the door, a smile spreading across my face. "I have an idea."

'Why are you talking to yourself?' I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard Ares in my head. 'How's my favorite cousin?'

'None of your- wait did you just say that I'm your favorite cousin?'

'Yeah, why?'

'Triton owes me drachmae! I TOLD HIM I would be the favorite!'

'...Do your job, maid.'

'Ares, the next time I see you, it'll be in a colosseum.'

'I look forward to it, little cousin!'

'...I'm going for your shins.'

I rolled my eyes and left the room, shutting off my mental link with the gods. 'If I'm going to be a normal maid, I need to make sure I'm not tempted to speak with the gods. I'll send an Iris message tonight, but that has to be the last message for a while. I can do this now...' When I made it to a supply closet, I grabbed a cart of supplies and went back to the room.

'I'll start in that room and make my way to the library,' I told myself while entering the room. 'That way, I can clean the library while telling Lady Daniela stories about my past.' As I moved to the back of the room, the door opened behind me, making me glance back to see Lady Cassandra. 'Oh great, how am I going to fuck up around her this time?'

"I uh, wanted to apologize," She muttered once she was close to me. "That was a first for me — getting a compliment from someone other than our family without my sisters getting one as well. You sounded so genuine too... I'm sorry everyone reacted the way they did. If you still want to go to the ball with me, though..."

My heart skipped a beat as a smile twitched on my face. "Well, since the offer's still on the table," I giggled at her sheepish smile. "I would love to go with you. What should I wear?"

"Pirate?"

'Can we do that? I'd have to contact 'Dite... Guess I'm not cutting the gods off just yet,' I nodded and smiled at her. "Yeah, I can make that happen."

"You have a month — work efficiently."

"I always do."

"Oh, I almost forgot!" A cold pressure was applied to my cheek before she moved away from me with a smile. "Thanks for agreeing to tell Dani stories!"

"Yeah, no problem," I giggled dreamily.

'Someone's in love already,' Aphrodite teased once Lady Cassandra left the room. 'So, you need a pirate outfit?'

'Yeah... One that will catch her eye.'

'...I think anything you do will catch her eye, but okay.'

'What's that supposed to mean?!'

Aphrodite let out a long sigh. 'You truly are your father's child.'

'I should be offended by that, shouldn't I?"

'Of course not! Why would I ever insult you?'

'Now you're just being condescending.'

'I'll-.'

'NO! I'll... I'll be on Olympus this weekend for you to take my measurements.'

'With and without the binder! Just in case.'

'Fine,' I internally groaned as I finished cleaning the windows in the room. 'Now, let me clean in peace.'

For once, she listened. As I continued cleaning, the time flew by, and before I knew it, I was cleaning a new room. I hummed to myself while taking the sheets off the bed. 'Tomorrow, I'll ask the lady if I can prove I'm a better chef than her current one. Besting a mortal shouldn't be difficult, but I'll need a good dish... Wait-!' A smile spread across my face when a recipe Dionysus told me about came to mind.

'Dion I owe you big time for telling me about "Roasted Kid", but I'm not going to snatch a child and cut off their arm,' I glanced into the hallway when a maid walked by. '...But I do live in a castle of 'substitutions'. Now, which maid does the lady hate the most? Alright, this plan will take a lot longer than I thought.'

"Yo," Hunter called as she stood in the doorway. "The head chef got sick and ruined what she had for dinner. You're up."

"Why me?"

"I may have told her you'd fix the issue and make sure she didn't die because she fell ill."

'I just have to be the hero all the time,' I groaned to myself when I felt the urge to help. "Why can't I be like Gramps?"

"To be fair, he wasn't always this evil. You still have time to be like him."

"...That's not the answer I was expecting."

"It's the one you got," Hunter laughed. "Now, come on, I'll help you cook."

"No funny business this time."

"Oh please," Hunter huffed and moved out of the way so I could leave the room. "Not when there's a chance of us getting caught."

"There was a chance last time! Apollo almost caught us!"

"Because you burst into flames."

"HE WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR!"

"What are you two talking about?" Lady Daniela's laughter made me jump.
