"Was that a kick?"

"...Four months..."

"What?"

"Fo-four months ago was when Hunter and I... When we last..." I let my head lean back against the wall. "Apollo was right — like always."

"Hey," Cassandra whispered and nudged against my cheek. "This doesn't change the fact that I'm interested in you."

"It doesn't? B-but this is-."

"Someone else's kid? I know. Look... I never thought about being a mom, because I can't have kids. So, if we work out..."

"That could change," I breathed, shuddering when she placed a hand where the kick was. "You said I make you feel human, right? A human touching another human?"

"Yeah."

I smiled and leaned forward, ghosting my lips over hers. "I've never felt cold before, but with you... I shiver. I guess we both make each other feel things we haven't felt in a long time."

Cassandra smiled, making my heart skip a beat. "We should either make out or get out of this compromising position."

"I don't think this kid liked that first option," I groaned when the baby kicked again. "Or it likes you."

"Both are fine with me — mostly the second part. I'd like it if I could keep kissing you, but if the little squirt doesn't want me to-."

Another kick made me grunt and tighten my grip on her. "Shut up and kiss me before this kid kicks its way out of me."

Cassandra smiled and rolled her eyes, connecting our lips once again. 'Well, that eases that fear,' I deepened the kiss when she lifted me a bit more, letting her pull us closer together. 'If she's okay with it, then it makes keeping the kid easier.' She broke the kiss when I grunted in pain, allowing me to glare at my stomach.

'Okay, the kid doesn't want us making out right now,' Cassandra laughed as she lowered me, helping me stand. Her hands rested on my waist while I steadied myself, glancing up to lock eyes with her again. 'I used to hate gold eyes... Now, I can't seem to look away from hers.' My hands lifted to her cheeks as I smiled at her, letting out a relieved sigh when she moved a hand to my stomach.

"Four months and the child already doesn't want you to have fun."

I laughed and moved a hand to where hers was. "I know I've screwed up in the past... But you make me feel okay with being on Earth. I never... had a home here — on Earth."

"What about now?" Cassandra smiled, dropping her gaze to my stomach. "I can be— This-This can be your home. This castle."

"Certainly starting to feel like it."

"Good, I'm happy to hear that. Look, I-I know I can be mean — make it seem like I hate everyone that isn't my family — but I... You and Hunter make the castle feel alive. You're not terrified of us, even knowing what we do, and I wanted you to know that I appreciate it. So... I guess that's what the kissing was for."

"If that was you being appreciative," I laughed as she started kissing my neck. "I'm curious to see you horny."

Cassandra smiled against my neck and slipped a hand to my waistband. "If you're lucky, you'll find out one of these days."

"Soon, I hope."

"Maybe later tonight," She whispered, her fangs grazing my neck. "I never finished my blood..."

"I don't think my blood is the best drink now."

"...You're right. Probably not good for the baby."

"Gods it's so weird hearing that," I laughed when she moved away from me, taking me away from the wall. "Four months though... Already halfway there."

"Halfway and you're not even showing," Cassandra hummed before lifting my shirt. "Oh, no, you are. Your abs are nearly gone."

"WHAT?!" I squeaked and glanced down, noticing she was right. "...This kid better be worth it."

"So, you're keeping it?"

"Hunter always wanted to be a mom... This might be her only chance — I can't take that from her. And, who knows, maybe I'll like the little slugger in time."

"...Do you wanna go on a date? Tonight?"

"Wait, seriously?"

"Yeah," Cassandra smiled, her hands resting on my stomach. "As long as this little one doesn't keep kicking me."

"Correction: Kicking me."

"Yeah, stop kicking them," She hummed and crouched to my stomach. "And when you arrive, I promise to teach you how to hunt."

'If things work out with Cassandra, this might be our only chance to have a kid,' I smiled when she hesitantly kissed my stomach. 'Is this what love feels like? Is what Sorana and I had not love?' My smile faltered at the thought. 'Why does it hurt so much to think that?'

When Cassandra stood again, I smiled — the smile widening when she kissed me. 'It really does feel like she's human,' My hands moved to her cheeks as she pulled away from it. 'Her cold counters my heat so easily...' She motioned toward the room and made me roll my eyes, a laugh leaving me as I moved away from her.

"It's not going to be a long show now," I pointed out.

"I'll still enjoy it," She purred as I grabbed my running shoes. "The kid won't."

"Yeah, well, the kid is the reason my body is changing."

"...Boy or girl? Which do you want?"

I smiled as I tied my shoes. "Well, my brother has always hated not having a nephew to teach stuff, so I guess I'll be hoping for a son?"

Cassandra took one of my hands and kissed my knuckles after I finished putting my shoes on. "Either way, that kid will be safe here. We don't harm children."

"I know, it's just- having me as a parent will put this kid in a lot of danger."

"And I promise you, your child will be safe here. No matter how many beings I have to kill — you will never have to grieve for your child."

"...You make it really hard not to kiss you on a normal day," I pointed out, ignoring her smirk as it slowly appeared on her face. "It's very difficult to not..."

"Beg for me?"
