"...I have that story now."

The lady sent me a small, concerned glare before motioning toward me. "Go on then."

'Thank you for not questioning me further,' I internally giggled before clearing my throat. "Now, some of this might sound weird — but I'd like to point out that I was five."

"That's not a good start."

"... Storytime."

Year: ????

Location: ????

"Mama?"

"Yes, baby?" My mother hummed as she picked me up. "Are you ready to go?"

"Hungy," I whined, resting my head on her shoulder. "Hungy."

"Lady Freyja will have food ready for us," She promised, picking up a bag. "Skelly, grab the suitcase for me."

"Yes, my lady!"

I smiled and grabbed my cup of apple juice, chewing on the plastic. My eyes darted around as everything changed — ghostly screams and burning fields being replaced with a lush forest and smiling faces. 'Lot... No like...' I buried my face in my mother's shoulder with a quiet whine.

Her hand rubbed soothing circles on my back as she carried me over to a few people. I whined again and squirmed, covering my ears once we came to a stop. One of the people we stopped in front of looked at me before sending a quick glance to my mother. She let out a soft sigh and tried to move my hands, locking eyes with me when I whined again.

"Freyja... Can we take this someplace quiet?"

"Of course. Freyr, could you grab the food for the little one?"

"Why are we moving location?" A man asked while he moved over to a table. "I thought it wasn't a secret-?"

"Isa doesn't like how noisy it is," My mother sighed, finally managing to get at least one of my hands off of my ear. "They are still Hades' child — things can be very loud and overwhelming for them."

The man glanced back at me before chuckling. "Alright, alright, let's go."

I tried my best to take in everything I saw; all of the different colors, sounds, and smells. Once we were inside what appeared to be a castle, I was set on the floor. I whined and reached for my mother, stomping my foot when she didn't pick me up again.

"Baby," She laughed and knelt, turning me to face a table. "I put you down so you can eat."

"Up!"

"After you eat."

"Now!"

"Hey," I was turned around quickly, her hand wiping away a tear. "I promise I'll pick you up after you eat. Freyja spent her time making this for you."

"...Up..."

"Okay, after I ask Freyja this question?"

"...Okay."

"You drive a hard bargain," She laughed before planting a kiss on my cheek. "Now, eat up. Freyr will watch you while I talk to his sister."

I nodded as she stood up, turning back to the table when she left me. The man took a seat while I grabbed the bread, making me freeze. He raised an eyebrow when he noticed and sent me a smile, leaning back in his seat.

"You old enough to hunt yet kid?"

"Five!"

"...That doesn't answer my question, kid."

"Dumdum."

"Woah! Rude, little dude! I can teach you how to hunt."

I huffed and took a bite out of my bread. "I baby."

"...You're five."

"I baby."

"You're a toddler."

"No! I mama baby!"

The man took a deep breath as I took another bite of my bread. "I'm arguing with a toddler."

"Baby!"

"I will punt you."

I frowned and set my bread down, stomping over to him and biting his leg. He yelped — causing my mother and the other woman to rush back inside. I whined when I was picked up, letting go of his leg to let my mom pick me up easier. She turned me to face her, a frown on her face.

"Freyr."

"Most toddlers hate being called a baby! Why are they different?!"

"Because they're a child of Hades! Expect the unexpected with them — always."

"Isa," My mom cooed, making me lock eyes with her. "What have I said about biting?"

"No bite," I muttered with a pout. "He mean!"

"Even if he's mean. Only certain people deserve to be bitten — he isn't one."

"Okay... I sowwy."

"...Yeah, I'm sorry too, kid," The man groaned, standing and moving over to us to ruffle my hair. "The offer to teach you to hunt is still there."

Present

"Did you ever take him up on the offer?"

"I did," I chuckled as she finished up. "Thank you."

"It's the least I can do," Lady Cassandra chuckled. "Are you okay though? You kissed your ex, so either you still have feelings for her or..."

"Uh... let's just say I'm finally processing some things and... it's a lot."

"Well, I don't just have to be your boss."

I chuckled and let my head drop for a moment, glancing up at her before I spoke again. "Luckily for you, I was never one of the normal demigods, so I'll take my chances trying to be your friend."

"You mean most demigods wouldn't?"

"Monsters constantly hunt us down — I can't tell you how many we've lost this year alone to monsters... Vampires are still a huge threat to us."

Lady Cassandra shifted slightly before nodding. "Well, we're not normal vampires."

"I can tell. So, how long until a family meeting happens? I heard some of the older maids mention them in the past."

"Hm... Mother doesn't normally-."

Knocking on my door cut her off, making me glance at the door. "Yes?"

"It's Hunter."

"Come in."

"I'll find out and get back to you," Lady Cassandra promised with a small smile. "...Do you mind if I stop by later? Mother's going to make me get ready for the day soon, so I should leave now."

"I would actually love it if you did," I muttered while returning the smile. "You seem to like my stories."

"It's been a while since we were able to hear new stories — you should offer to tell Dani a story the next time you have to clean a room she's in."

"I shall," I smiled at her.

She got up and left after that, passing Hunter before leaving my sight. Once the lady was gone, Hunter slipped into my room and shut my door, rushing to my side soon after. She cupped my cheeks and began examining me — turning and tilting my head to check for any fatal injuries.

"Hunter... We need to talk."

"Yeah, I know..." Hunter muttered with a frown. "Did you also have a dream about Apollo?"

"...I did..."
