Chapter Eleven

Colby's POV:

"Please! L-Let Me Go!" I begged as I tried my best to hold in my tears. Chad and the jocks laughed at me. "Fat chance," Chad said as he lifted up my jumper revealing my chest and stomach. "Hmm seems like someone's a bit.. flat-chested," Chad sneered as the jocks laughed at me. My eyes widened as Chad brought the knife to my stomach. "No Please!" I shrieked. "Hey, Leave Him Alone!" I looked to see Sam with pure anger on his face as his hands were turned into fists. Chad smirked as he turned back to me. My eyes widened as I shrieked in pain as Chad slit the side of my stomach.

"Colby!" I heard Sam shout. I was then dropped onto the floor as I clutched my side. I then looked up to see Sam surrounded by Chad and the jocks. "S-Stop! Leave him alone!" I shouted but to no avail. With the little strength I had, I got up and limped my way to find help. As I neared the parking lot, I saw Jake and Tara approaching Jake's car. I then limped my way to them. "J-Jake! Tara!" I cried as I collapsed halfway. "Oh my god Colby! What happened?!" Tara cried as she knelt right beside me. "C-Chad slit me," I winced in pain. Both Jake and Tara's eyes widened. "Where's Sam?" Jake asked me.

"S-Sam is being attacked by Chad and the jocks," I replied. "Jake go help Sam, I'll take Colby to Principal Smith's office," Tara said. Jake nodded as he ran to help Sam. Tara took out a shirt and wrapped it around my wound. "My gym shirt should help stop the bleeding until we get help." Tara helped me up and we entered the school. Just as we entered, we saw Principal Smith. "Principal Smith! Principal Smith! We Need Your Help!" Tara called.

"Oh, my goodness what happened?!" Principal Smith asked as she rushed to us. "Principal Smith, Colby was hurt by Chad. Sam is getting attacked by Chad and the jocks as we speak!" Tara explained. "Oh dear, let's go!" Once we got back outside, Principal Smith along with Coach Erickson stopped the attack. Tara and I were horrified to see Sam and Jake all bloodied and severely beaten. "Coach Erickson take them inside while I call an ambulance," Principal Smith instructed. Coach Erickson nodded as he rushed everyone inside. Soon enough the ambulance arrived and took me along with Sam and Jake. Tara decided to follow us in Jake's car. I shakily took out my phone and texted my mom that we were on our way to the hospital.

Third Person POV:

Once Colby got stitched and bandaged up, he and Tara then waited for Jake and Sam. Soon Mrs.Brock, along with Jake's parents appeared. "Oh Colbaby, are you ok?" Mrs. Brock asked Colby while gently cupping his face. Colby nodded his head as he explained everything to them. Suddenly, a nurse came and asked for Jake's parents. Jake's parents and Tara got up and followed the nurse. Soon the same nurse came and asked for Sam. Colby and his mom got up and walked toward her. "Are you relatives of Samuel?" "H-His parents are on the way" Colby explained.

The nurse led Colby and his mother followed her to Sam's room. "Ok, this is his room. Now I'm going to check on other patients, call me if anything." Colby nodded and the nurse left. When Colby opened the door, Sam was awake looking out the window. "Sam!" Colby called as he ran and gently hugged Sam. Sam smiled as he gently hugged Colby back. "Colby, stay here with Sam while I wait for his parents," Mrs.Brock said. Colby nodded as his mom left.

Sam's POV:

"You called my parents?" I asked. "Yeah I took your phone and called them," Colby replied. "Sam, what you and Jake did was dangerous." "Colby, Jake and I don't care. All that mattered to us was your safety," I told him. "Sam, I was so scared that Chad and his friends would kill you and Jake," Colby responded as a tear slipped down his face. "Oh, Colbs, that would never happen," I responded as I wiped away his tears. "Colbs, can I tell you something?" I asked him. "S-Sure Sam, what's up?" Colby asked me. "Well, I just want to say that I like you a lot. I guess spending time with you made me realize what it was like to fall in love," I confessed.

Colby's eyes widened as I looked at him. "I-I like you to Sam," Colby blushed as he looked at me. I then grabbed Colby's hand and gently kissed it. "We'll talk more about this at home ok?" I told him. "Ok," Colby replied with a smile on his face. Soon, the door opened to reveal my parents and Evangeline. "Mom, Dad, Evangeline, this is Colby," I introduced him. Colby waved as everyone said their hellos. "Colby sweetie, is it ok if we had a family moment?" my mom asked. Colby nodded as he left with his mom outside.

"Oh Samuel, you had us worried," Evangeline said. "Poor Colby was crying when he called to tell us what happened," my mom explained. "I'm sorry, I was just trying to do my job and protect him," I explained. "We understand Samuel and you did a wonderful job but you do understand that your job is almost over correct?" Evangeline asked me. "Wait what?! You mean I won't be able to see Colby anymore?" I asked them. "I'm afraid not Samuel. Once your job is over, you'll be assigned to another human," Evangeline explained. "I'm sorry sweetie, but that's just the way it is," my mom comforted me as she held my hand.

"C-Can I have some time to process all this?" I asked them. They all nodded their heads as they left. I then put my face in my hands as I thought about how I'm going to break the news to Colby. "Sam?" I then looked up to see Colby walking toward me. My eyes glossed as I looked at him. "What's wrong? Are you ok?" he asked me. I then faked a smile as I looked at him. "I'm fine, now that you're here," I responded.

Once we got home, I decided to show Colby how I felt. "Hey Colby, you know how I said we'll talk when we get home?" I asked him. Colby hummed in response. "Well, what if I showed you?" At first, Colby was confused until I gently pulled him close to me. I then leaned in and placed my lips on his. Colby was shocked at first but then he kissed back as he wrapped his arms around my neck. Two minutes later, we pulled away for air. "Colby, I love you so much that I was wondering if you could do me the honor of being mine?" I asked him.
