"And how is school?" Minho's therapist asked as she leaned back in her seat.
"Boring, as always" Minho answered, as he pulled his legs to his chest in the usual armchair. He was looking at the ground, not daring to cross her eyes.
Minho had weekly therapist sessions. He had been going there for more than a year, he was used to it. At first, he was apprehensive, and didn't want to talk to her at all. But time went by, and he started to feel more comfortable around her, he knew she could be trusted and he actually felt better after venting out to her.
"You love to dance don't you?" She asked, trying to push Minho on sensitive subjects.
"I used to, yes" He said monotously.
"What changed?"
"I grew up, I guess" He responded with a sigh.
Oh how he missed it when he was a kid. He used to run to his dance class, excitment filling his body every time he went there. Then he would come back home, and show the choreo to his parents, happy to be able to do what he liked.
Why doesn't it feel the same ?
"I've made some new friends" He added, wanting to talk about some brighter things of his life.
"Really? It's amazing! Tell me about them"
"There is Felix, he is nice and Changbin has a crush on him. There is Seungmin, he's annoying. And I also hang out way more with Hyunjin. They're cool" He said, his face still as neutral.
"One is Jisung. He's a little energetic shit, annoying but funny" He explained, as a small grin started to grow on his lips
She noticed and smiled, thinking that maybe that Jisung could be the key for something new.
"You like his presence?" She asked
"Surprisingly, yes" He answered truthfully, the grin not leaving his face
"Why is that?"
"I don't really know, I just feel things when he's around, which haven't happened since I have... since I'm sick" He said, almost stuttering as gulped forcefully.
Minho really felt out of place saying his trouble out loud. He hated the thought of it, he hated the sound of it. He wanted to deny it, as much as he could. He was ashamed.
"Do you like him more than you think?" She tried, noticing how stiff the boy looked at the mention.
"What do you mean?" He said as his eyes detached from the ground, now looking at her, uncertain of what she was implying.
"Do you have feelings for him?" She asked softly.
"..." He didn't answer, he just stared at her blankly.
"You don't have to answer if you don't feel like it"
"I just don't know, I haven't questioned that" He said, tilting a bit his head to the side as he was thinking "But isn't it bad news if I like him?" He asked, really confused
"Why would it be?"
"I don't know, it can be bad" He said, frowing a bit
"Is he gay?"
"Yes"
"Then you may have your chances" She said, a smile on her face
"It's strange" Minho said as he looked back at his hands "I felt strange when you said that"
"Young love, so cute" She teased.
Minho was really close to her therapist. She had been a good help and she was really young, she understood him more than other therapists did.
"What should I do?" He asked, profusely confused
"I'm no one to dictate you"
"You're my therapist" He stated, frowning
"Yes, I'm supposed to help you, not guide you into decisions that depend on you"
"You should, we pay you enough" He said sarcastically
"Minho!" She nagged
"Sorry"
"It's okay, I'm just not used to your humor" She said with a small laugh
"People say it's weird" He said, shrugging.
"You're weird, it's true"
"Is it a bad thing?" He asked in all honesty
"I don't think so, it's some kind of a charm"
"I think Jisung likes my weirdness" He said, looking back at the ground, a smile now clear on his face
"Hey, you found the perfect one!"
Minho was about to answer, but he was cut off by the ringing of the alarm, signaling that his session was over. Minho stood up.
"It's time" She said, as she stood up to guide Minho out of the room
"Thank you Miss" He said, bowing slightly
"See you next week Lee Minho!" She said as she waved at him.
He left with a lighter heart.
Strangely, even talking about Jisung would make his body feel funny.
