Chapter 8

"How has your stay been here, so far? Has Tay'ra been teaching you?" Tonowari asks.

Jake nods, "yes, she has."

Tonowari nods and smiles, "I guess I'm an idiot for questioning that. Tay'ra is a sweet woman. Why would she not teach you."

Jake nods and smiles.

"I must say, I have seen you two around quite a lot. And I've never seen her around a man, this much" Tonowari says.

Jake looks at him puzzled.

"Well, Tay'ra has never been interested in talking to any of the men here. That is why she has not yet mated. But, she seems to be fond of you" Tonowari says.

Jake thinks to himself for a moment, as it excites him.

Fond of him? Him?

Out of everyone here, she is close to him.

He has only been here for three days and yet, she's the only woman who has actually spoken to him and gotten to know him, so it would make sense for her to be fond of him.

But even then, he found it so hard to believe.

"She is a very much respected woman, being Arutey and Magu's youngest daughter" Tonowari says.

Jake pays focus to what Tonowari is saying.

"Being the youngest daughter, everyone here knows just how bad it can be if they chose to disrespect her. Arutey would rip you apart" Tonowari says.

Jake was confused.

Why was Tonowari telling him this? Does he think Jake will try to disrespect her?

"I don't plan on disrespecting her. In any way. She is too precious, for me to do something like that" Jake says.

Tonowari smiles and nods, "very well. It is just a fair warning. I'll be watching your every move Jake."

Jake nods.

There was nothing more scarier than Tonowari telling you he'll be watching over you.

Him and Jake had become good friends. Acquaintances.

However, Tonowari was still the chief at the end of the day. And being watched over the chief?

Well.. it was scary.

Jake gets onto the Tsurak, taming it as it creates Tsaheylu, with his tswin.

"Stay concentrated Jake" Tonowari says.

Jake closes his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath in as he remembers Tay'ras' voice, telling him to concentrate.

To slow down his heartbeat.

He opens his eyes once again, before he begins to ride.

Tay'ra looks in his direction, seeing Jake riding the Tsurak.

"Is that the tall blue man we saw the other day?" Tëy asks.

"Yes.. it is" Tay'ras' voice trails off as she focuses on Jake, watching him ride, along with Tëy, who was also quite intrigued.

Tonowari catches up to him on his own Tsurak.

"Let's do this together" Tonowari says.

Jake nods, looking straight forward.

He takes a deep breath, diving in as he rides the Tsurak, whilst Tonowari watches from above, on his own Tsurak.

Jake then rides back up onto the surface.
