Chapter 3 What Now?

Nick and Sharon came out of Dr. Nate's office, stacked high with books and leaflet's he'd asked them to read. They slumped into their car, and Nick turned to Sharon. Are you okay? he asked. Honestly, I have no idea said, Sharon. First, we get told we can't have kids, then he tells us it can all happen in a laboratory! I'm just so overwhelmed at the minute. I don't know what to think. Drive to the coffee house. You want to go to work? asked Nick. Not at this moment said Sharon but we do both need coffee. Alright said Nick Crimson Lights it is. By the time they got to the coffee house, the full staff was in working like busy bees. Wow! It's busy in here said Sharon happily. It sure is said Nick I'll go grab us a booth. Okay said Sharon I want to go and talk to Mandy, and see if she can close for me today. Save me from having to come back later. Are you going to take the rest of the day off? That's most unlike you said, Nick. I know said Sharon but we have a lot of reading to do, and then we have to make an important decision. I can't do the reading here at Crimson, there are too many distractions going on. So I will see if Mandy minds closing up, then once we've finished our coffee we can go home and start reading. Can you take the time off as well? asked Sharon. 

I am practically my own boss, so I guess so said Nick. But I had better phone in, just to tell the office I won't be back in today. Okay said Sharon you go and make the phone call, while I sort my end out and grab a couple of coffees. Sharon was so grateful Mandy could help her out, she could not wait to get her hands on all the information Dr Nate had given them to read, to see how they were going to make their baby. Once they were home, Sharon made them a bite to eat. She laid all the leaflets and books they had to read onto the dining table. What do you think of all this, before we start reading into it? asked Sharon. Nick sat there not saying anything. "Hello" Are you okay? Nick then realized Sharon had said something to him. I'm so sorry he said I was in a world of my own. I could tell said Sharon. I asked you, what do you think of all this? Before we start reading all about it. Oh I see said Nick. Well, I'm a bit lost at the minute with it all. It's a lot to take in. We've always said to each other, that we have wanted kids. And now it looks like we have to wait a while for that to happen. I guess I won't really know how I feel until we've read all the information about it all. 

And looking at this pile on the table, it's going to take us a while to do that. Yes, it will said Sharon. I'm on the same page as you, we have to read all the information first, get our heads around it all. That's not going to happen in one night. We took the rest of the day off said Nick. I know said Sharon it's still not long enough for us to read all this stuff, have a discussion about it all, and make a decision. I say we at least give ourselves until next Wednesday, which will be a week. Gives us time to read stuff after work etc. I think I've made my mind up before I've even read anything said Nick. You have? said Sharon. Yeah, we want kids, and I will do anything for that to happen. And I think you would too? You know me so well said Sharon with a smile. I still say we need to read all this stuff so that we know what's coming and what to expect. I'm in agreement said Nick. But shall I make an appointment tomorrow while I'm at work to see Dr. Nate next Thursday? So we can tell him our decision, and get the ball rolling? Why not said Sharon smiling at him. They picked up a book each and started to read. Wow! Said Nick later after finishing the first book.

I don't think the men have to do a lot. I mean it seems all I have to do, is produce semen into a container and the rest is all down to you. Well, thanks for that bit of information said Sharon getting the giggles. But you are right. I have to have the injections, then have eggs retrieved. And finally go back to have the fertilized egg inseminated into me. I think the worst bit about that is going to be the injections. Not long after, Nick went and ordered them some sushi to be delivered for their dinner. Let's call it a night reading when it arrives said Nick and just do a chill night on the sofa and watch a movie. That sounds marvelous said Sharon. I'm going to quit now and go and take a long soak in the tub. While you're doing that, I'll go and get out of this suit and tie and take a shower. Then we will both be in our sweats, when the food gets here ready to chill out on the sofa. We will said Sharon who then went over and kissed Nick before heading up for her bath. Nick was not far behind her. When they both came back down, they were both feeling so much more relaxed. Sharon was just about to pick up one of the leaflets when Nick stopped her. Hey did you forget what the plan was? he asked. We said we were going to eat take out and watch a movie, and read all this slowly over the next week.
