Chapter 40 She's Gone!

We need to clear the air. Can we do that, please? Mariah pleaded. Tessa looked up from the pancakes, she had made. What did you hear? asked Tessa. I heard you singing to Aria. You told her I was stubborn. And that you loved me and her. Did she wake up? Is that why you went in? Sort of said Tessa turning red. I just wanted to sing to her. While I was doing that, she just woke up. So I picked her up and continued singing. I'm sorry, you feel like I was being a bit rough on Angel. But something is going on with her. I can feel it. I couldn't believe it when you stood up for her! Especially, after we had talked about her. And we agreed we didn't like the way she was doing stuff. And that she was always here at the house. Look, I agree that we wanted to talk to her, about the stuff she was doing. I just didn't like the way you went about it. You were a little too strong in my opinion. I wasn't siding with her as such said Mariah. Well, to me that's what it felt like said Tessa. She even rubbed my nose in it saying that. Saying what exactly? asked Mariah. She said, that you had picked her. "Tessa" said Mariah a little disappointed in her wife. I thought you were bigger than that. Why are you letting her get under your skin? I have no bloody idea said, Tessa. All I know is, that I thought she was a good candidate for the job. But now, I'm starting to change my mind. It's just the little things she's doing, to come between us. 

"Tessa" shouted Mariah a little more sternly. There is no way, she is going to come between us or our baby. We have one heart, remember? We are a united family. We have been through so much to get here. It would take a lot to break us. True, true. I'm just overthinking everything said, Tessa. I'm also missing my wife in our bed. Tessa smirked. Oh, do you now said Mariah? She went around the table, to snog her wife. They were caught in the act, by Angel coming through the door. Awe, look at you two making out said Angel very loudly so they could hear her. Tessa broke away from Mariah. I'll see you later, she whispered to Mariah. As she rushed over, and grabbed her coat, bag and headed out. Oh, I'm sorry said Angel. Did I say something wrong, for her to leave that quickly? No! No! said Mariah thinking quickly of what to say. She has a big meeting, she has to attend. Angel looked at Mariah suspiciously. Mariah did not like the look she was giving her. In the back of her mind, she had a fleeting thought. That Tessa may be right about Angel. But as quick as the thought came, it was forgotten about again. They may have made up, thought Angel. But I can still, get under Tessa's skin. I also have to start thinking about, all the plans I wrote down. From the list, I made on my phone. 

Angel had also written down the story she had told Mariah, about her fake life in Boston. I can't believe I made up such a good story about myself. She smiled to herself. And then went, and cleaned up Aria after all the mess she had made on her face. She had stuck those pancakes Tessa had made, everywhere! Apart from her mouth. Mariah met Angel at the bottom of the stairs, as she came down with Aria in her arms. Good timing Mommy said Angel handing Aria over into Mariah's arms. I wish I could have her said Mariah handing her straight back. But I have to head for work. No time for coffee this morning? asked Angel. I wish said Mariah. I'm already running late for an important meeting. Awe, that's a shame said Angel. I was looking forward to having coffee with you again. I enjoyed having coffee with you too said Mariah. But, today I have to get my butt to work. I'll see you later. Bye, sweet one said Mariah as she kissed Aria, and was out the door before Angel could say anything else to her. Well, said Angel huffing. Both of them were in a hurry, to get out of here this morning. 

Mariah got snowed under at work. Tessa got home before her! Hello there, Aria said Tessa as she approached her daughter in her high chair. Where's your Mommy? Not here. Said a voice behind her. Tessa swiftly turned around. There in the doorway, was Angel. Beaming from ear to ear. You left in a hurry this morning said Angel. Err yeah, I had a big meeting, I had to get to. Mariah had phoned Tessa, to tell her what to say. Tessa was good at keeping a straight face, so Angel could not tell if Tessa was telling the truth or not. I thought you were avoiding me again? said Angel. Nope said Tessa in a short sharp voice. Anyway, don't let me keep you said Tessa looking at her watch. Oh, I was going to wait for Mariah said Angel.No need said Tessa trying to get her out of the door. Mariah told me she would be home late tonight. Tessa had her fingers crossed behind her back, hoping Mariah would not turn up before Angel had left. Otherwise, she would know, that Tessa was lying. Half an hour after Angel had left, Mariah entered the house. She was being watched from behind the trees, by Angel. I guess, Tessa was telling the truth, thought Angel as she got back into her truck, and drove away.
