Chapter 19 Clearing The Air

When they came out of the fitting room, they said their goodbyes. Thanks for the chat said Tessa. Now we've cleared the air. Do you fancy a coffee sometime? I've missed my best friend. I've missed mine too said Mariah. But I don't know if meeting up is such a good idea sadly. Oh okay, I do understand said Tessa I guess I'll see you around then. Tessa leaned in to give Mariah a kiss on the cheek and thought better of it. She held out her hand instead. Mariah just hugged her. As if it was the last thing in the world she was going to do. They stayed like that for a while. Kyle just happened to be coming around the corner and was stopped in his tracks. When he saw them together. Because he saw something between them. He went back around the corner and then coughed as loud as he could before he appeared. This meant when Mariah and Tessa heard it, they had let go of one another. By the time he came back around. Hello, Kyle said Mariah a little overcome by the hug, she'd just had. Let me introduce you to Tessa. Kyle shook her hand. Welcome to Jabot said Kyle. Thanks for agreeing to dress me said Tessa a little red-faced from the hug.

I got time off, and Kyle here got to dress you in Jabot clothes. Oh, I see said Tessa blushing. I think I got the better end of the deal. Tessa smiled at Mariah. Did you pick anything? he asked. She picked, a very plain red dress with small straps said Mariah. Tessa said it was more her than all the sequin ones. It's easier to play the guitar in too said Tessa. I guess I'll see you at the concert next said Kyle. Are you coming? queered Tessa. Kyle is one of the major sponsors said Mariah jumping in. Well, my dad and I said Kyle. We both own Jabot. But my dad pretty much, lets me run the company on my own these days. Right well, I'll see you both at the concert then.

I'm guessing you will be there with Devon? Tessa looked straight at Mariah. Who then blushed. I think we'll be there said Mariah flustered. This is all pretty new to me. Going to huge events. Tessa said her final goodbyes to them and left, after Kyles's statement. Mariah was still looking hot under the collar, as she watched Tessa leave, Kyle noticed. We lived next door to one another. Our moms are still the best of friends. Oh I see said Kyle a little astonished by Mariah's answer. I knew you had a connection. You can just see it in you both. Mariah didn't know what to say to that. So she made some excuse, that she had better let Devon know. That Tessa's outfit is all sorted for the concert. Kyle watched her go.

Devon was grateful, that she and Tessa had sorted out their differences, and come up with an outfit. Yeah, we've sort of made peace said Mariah into the receiver. I'm glad of that said Devon at the other end. it would have been a bit ridiculous falling out over a cup of coffee. Yes, it would said Mariah smiling to herself. Right, well I'd better get on said Devon. But before I go. Are you free for dinner one night this week? There was a pause at the other end. "Mariah" shouted Devon. Oh, sorry. I was looking at my diary. Yes, I should be good on Thursday. Is that good for you? Sure said, Devon. I'm glad you could fit me in. "Devon" shouted Mariah down the phone. What did you say it like that for? I have a full schedule. We have a new line coming out, and as you know full well, I'm in full charge of that. We don't all own our own companies you know. So we can take time off when we want. Mariah was not impressed. Okay, I get it. I'm sorry for saying it the way I did. I will see you Thursday night. I'll come by and pick you up around seven thirty.
