Chapter 15 Work!

When the cab approached their house, Tessa was already looking out of the window at Mariah's house. She was shocked to see Mariah looking out of her bedroom window. I hope things can change between us. Tessa thought as she prepared to leave the cab. Blake had already got the cases out of the trunk. Okay, we're home shouted Blake. Let's get you settled inside. Crystal came around to Tessa's side of the cab. Are you okay sis? Crystal noticed Tessa looking up at the windows of Sharon and Nick's house. Yeah, yeah, I will be once I settle back into my old room. Tessa was still thinking about Mariah looking out of her window. She was wondering if Mariah saw her. And if Mariah knew she was coming home today? Tessa finally got out of the cab and followed her family up to their house. A few hours later, she was all unpacked and settled in nicely. While she had been away, her parents had redecorated her room, to make it feel a lot more grown-up for her. They had added a proper desk area for her, and a lovely new sofa for her to relax on, for whenever she felt like escaping the family for a while.

Tessa sat on the sofa for quite a while after she'd finished all her unpacking, and was just admiring her room. Can I come in? said a voice by the door. Hey mom, sure come on in. Thanks for doing my room. I love it! We're glad you approve said Gwen smirking. Is it weird being back, after four years of living somewhere else? A bit said, Tessa. The place at the university was so noisy with all the girls in it. I just have to get used to all the quiet here again. I'm sure I will be fine, after a few days. You are happy to be home though? said Gwen. Of course, I am a mom. I have the job I've always wanted. Being signed up, to a new record label is a huge deal to me. It means I get to do what I love to do. Which is singing and playing my guitar. I can't wait for my first day, at Hamilton Winters to start. I'm so glad you're looking forward to it. You have worked so hard to get it said, Gwen. Thinking about all that Tessa is going to find out when she does her first day. Cassie and Crystal meanwhile, were finding it hard not to tell their sisters about their respected partners, Devon and Sally. I hope they find out soon, said Crystal to Cassie over a coffee one day. When is your sister starting at Hamilton Winters again? asked Cassie.

I think it's at best at least another couple of weeks away said Crystal. Oh god, that long said Cassie. I don't know if I can keep my mouth shut for that amount of time. You're going to have to said, Crystal. We can't let it all out now. I know Tessa still has feelings for Mariah. How do you know that? asked Cassie. When our cab pulled up outside our house, Tessa was looking up at your sister's bedroom window! Oh wow, said Cassie that's amazing after all the time that has gone by. I thought that too said Crystal. But even though Tessa has Sally now, I don't think she's really into her, if Tessa was really honest with herself. Whatever happened after that concert, it's still on her mind. You really think so? said Cassie. I don't think so, I know so said Crystal confidently. I know my sister. Do we interfere then? asked Cassie. Because, I don't know what they're going to do, once they find out about their other halves. Me neither said, Crystal. But we have to let it just play out. We just have to pray, it's all going to be fine. If you say so said Cassie. You have my full backing. 

After seeing Tessa get out of that cab, Mariah could not stop thinking about her. Is she going to be staying here in Genoa City? She wondered. I wonder if Cassie would know? She is great friends with Crystal after all. Maybe she's said something to her? The trouble is if I do that. Cassie is going to wonder why I am so interested. And I don't know what I'd say to her for an answer. I can't tell her, I kissed Crystal's sister! No! No! That needs to stay under wraps for now. I am dating Devon after all. And he knows nothing about all of that. She stared at herself in her bedroom mirror. Jesus, why am I still afraid of what happened between Tessa and me? Is it because I feel a connection? I miss my friend so much. I have a lot to tell her. Like about my new job, at Jabot here in Genoa City. And working with Kyle Abbott. He's nice, and I think we will become great friends. I wonder what Tessa will be doing? I remember Mom telling me she was going to go to Juilliard. Mom had also told me, Gwen had told Tessa where I was going too. I can't believe we picked universities at opposite ends of the country.
