2017...six years ago

Amelia picked up the rustic white-washed picture frame, thumbing over the picture under the glass. She looked horrible in this picture, her dark hair matted with sweat as it fell out of the bun on top of her head, her face flushed, and she had dark circles under her eyes. But the smile on her face reached those weary olive green eyes as she looked down at her newborn son lying against her chest; Tony sat next to her, his arm wrapped around her shoulders as he beamed with pride, a gentle hand cradling the dark-headed baby boy. Getting pregnant wasn't part of her plan. Amelia never really saw herself as the mothering type. It's not that she didn't like children per se; she could never really picture it. And now, she was thankful every day for little Theodore Anthony.

If she had to choose anyone to have a baby with, it would always be Tony; even though they weren't an item, Tony was always there for her and, more importantly, Teddy. Tony was a fantastic father and an amazing co-parent. She was ashamed to say she didn't have a lot of faith in that man, considering how they met. But Tony had stepped up; he got her in with the best OBGYN in New York. He'd attempted to be at all of the visits, even though she told him the first several weren't necessary for him to be at.

She tucked the frame carefully in the cardboard box before securing the lid; Amelia looked around the office, the dark blue walls with thick white trim and dark wood floors, the large window framed by shear white curtains where she had had a brown leather couch sitting in front of, massive build in bookshelf that once all the law books she'd collected over the years. Amelia felt a little melancholy as she looked around the room, ensuring she didn't forget anything. Her office—former office seemed so bare now; all her personal belongings were now tucked away in boxes to be taken to her new office.

"Getting everything packed away, okay?"

Amelia was startled; turning around quickly, she relaxed, seeing a familiar face. Tall, dark wavy hair styled back, round red tinted glass perched on his nose, navy blue pinstripe bespoken suit that clung to lean muscles, a powdered blue dress shirt underneath with a deep wine-red tie hanging loosely: Matt Murdock, her boss, and dear friend.

"Jesus, Matt," she breathed, hosting up the box to stack on the other.

He smirked, "I needed to scare you one last time," he reasoned, heading to the leather couch.

"Mission accomplished," she rolled her eyes.

"Don't roll you're eyes at me," he said, waving his clutched white cane toward her.

Matthew Murdock is one of the best damn lawyers in New York City and the other half to Nelson and Murdock Attorneys at Law. Unfortunately, he is also blind due to a chemical accident as a child, but he never let that slow him down. He had the best damn instincts Amelia had ever seen.
