❝Too bad you don't have any redeeming qualities besides playing volleyball.❞
❝Coach only gave you this position out of pity. He knows you don't have anything else besides this.❞
❝Aw, did you gain weight, Kagami-chan?❞
❝Now, that you mention it her hair looks greasy too. Are you sure you're doing okay?❞
❝I heard about that prodigy from Kitagawa Dachi's boys team, looks like our precious setter has some competition now.❞
Yoshikawa didn't think that she would be shaken up upon meeting her former teammates, but she was wrong. Their words from the past echoed in her mind as she warmed up for their upcoming match, and as a cruel twist of fate would have it, their opponents would be the Aobasohjai's Girl's Volleyball Team, the same team most of said former teammates now played for.
She was silent up until the start of the match. As their best server she was starting in the back row. She spun the ball in her hands and took a deep breath, it was nothing she hadn't done before, this wasn't any different from any other match she'd played, but then why were her hands shaking?
The referee blew his whistle and within seconds Kagami threw up the ball for a jump serve. The toss was a it low, but she still managed to get it over the net. The rival team's Libero received it cleanly and managed to pass the ball to their setter, Yukiko Mishima, who set it to their left wing spiker.
Since Yoshikawa was in the back row she couldn't block, along with Kaede, who was currently swapped out with their very capable Libero Nozomi Watabe. Michimiya, Aihara and Kikuchi, did their best to block the incoming spike, but it sailed right past them on to the ground. Nozomi tried to dive for it, but barely missed it.
"Shake it off! We'll get the next one!" Michimiya the ever reliable captain shouted, while their rival team cheered. Everyone nodded in determination, everyone except Kagami, but nobody noticed except Kaede who watched from the sidelines.
The younger Ennoshita didn't say anything to her while they warmed up, scared that she would break her concentration or something, but now she feels really stupid for not noticing sooner that she was bothered by her former teammates on the other side of the net.
