These past few weeks Kagami had honed the skill of avoiding people she didn't want to see. It was a pretty useless skill to have and she was sure she couldn't put it in her resume, but at least for the moment it helped her in some way.

Was it a healthy way? Probably not. But she didn't want to be the bigger person, she just wanted to be left alone. As much as Kagami has grown to like Kaede and Hinata, they sure like to stick their noses into other people's business and at the moment she just couldn't deal with them after what happened the day before.

She supposed that the other four didn't really care for what happened. Tsukishima and Kageyama are pretty self concerned and as long as she was alive, they wouldn't dwell too much on what had happened. She imagined that Yamaguchi wants to know, but is probably held back by Tsukishima telling him to mind his own business. Majima was the only person Kagami couldn't think of a plausible reaction for, she spent too little time with her for that, but if she had to take a guess she was probably similar to Yamaguchi.

The setter sighed leaning her head back, she then looked at the clock on the wall. Lunch had only just begun, since she raced out of the classroom and decided to hide out in the gym she had roughly thirty minutes left. Great.

That's when the door to the gym opened Kagami sat up straight, expecting a teacher or something, but there was only Kageyama, the person she least expected to show his face. He closed the door behind him with the usual unbothered expression on his face.

"I saw you walk in here," he simply said as he walked up to her. Kagami didn't reply and only looked to the floor, hugging her knees to her chest.

Kageyama didn't say anything further and sat down next to her, keeping a respectful distance, before handing her a can of peach soda. Kagami was surprised that he even remembered what kind of drink she liked. It seemed like such a small detail. Kagami hesitantly took the soda from him, "I didn't think you'd remember."

"Me neither," He simply replied, because he didn't know how he would explain to her that he went to get himself milk and had to think of her and how she was doing when he was at the vending machine. He didn't even know why she suddenly was in his brain.

"Thanks..." Kagami didn't speak further and opened the can, before taking a small sip. It was very refreshing. An awkward silence befell the two first years as they sipped on their drinks. Kagami usually liked silence, but this was unbearable, because she just waited for him to berate her or ask her about what happened the day before. "Aren't you going to ask?"

Kageyama paused, "About what?"

"About yesterday." Kagami clarified.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked her back, making her pause and lower her gaze for a moment. Something that Kagami noticed was that despite still being bad at most social interactions, Kageyama now at least tried to consider other people's feelings for a moment, especially his teammates during a match. It was a small, but noticeable change. Because a few weeks ago he would have surely scoffed at her and dismissed her.

"It's a complicated situation..." The brunette began with a sigh, "I don't think you'd understand."

"Probably," he immediately replied without much thinking, before having a rare moment of reflection and realising how rude he must have sounded. He sat up straight and cleared his throat, "Y-You can tell me anyways, o-or something like that."

"I had-" The brunette paused and corrected herself, "Have trouble eating most of the time. It was better, but after the last few weeks I started not eating again. It's not about losing weight for me, not primarily, but I- I think it's a mental thing. My doctor said it's about control. I guess I felt pretty helpless lately..."

Kageyama didn't say anything and instead sipped on his milk. She was right, he didn't really understand what she was talking about. He knew that not eating was a bad thing, but he didn't really understand her reasoning. It didn't make a lot of sense to him, but then again neither did most of his homework.

"But I never passed out from it before," Kagami continued with a sigh, while tapping her fingers on the soda can, "That was a first, and you had to see it... I talk a lot and try very hard, and yet I'm nowhere near being your equal."

"Why not?"

Kagami's head snapped up at those words leaving Kageyama's mouth. She admitted her most honest feelings to him, admitted that she knew that she wasn't as good as him and he questioned it. The dark haired boy could feel her eyes on him, and his cheeks turned a little red from embarrassment. He just blurted that out without much thought, because he already saw Kagami as someone equal to him in skill. He didn't understand why she doubted herself all of the sudden, when she was so sure during their first few meetings.

"You're... a good setter," he said awkwardly, it was clear he had some trouble voicing his thoughts in a way that was understandable. "Everyone knows that... I know that. I- I think you're good."

Kagami's eyes widened even further. She had received many compliments during her time as a volleyball player, but for some reason hearing it from his mouth felt special to her. She knew that Kageyama wasn't know to sugarcoat things, he was very blunt, which meant he didn't say things he doesn't mean in earnest. So, being called a good setter by him felt all the more uplifting, because she knew he was being honest with her and not just saying it to make her feel better.

The brunette smiled at him, "T-Thanks."

Kageyama nodded awkwardly, "You're welcome."

The two setters sat in a comfortable silence for the rest of the lunch break.
