"Don't worry Mel, you still have time before you have to try again." Johnny said as he patted her on the shoulder.
"I know that you are trying to be a supportive little brother, but it's really not helping." Melissa said shrugging his hand away.
"I know you don't want to do this Mel, but it's important." I sighed.
"Why is it so important? Because you never really answered that question."
"Because we need to know why he is so obsessed with her and why he wants us dead." Her brother answered for me, as I continued to struggle to think of one.
"I don't see how he wants us dead when his fucking Crawlers aren't doing a fucking thing." she argued back.
"They aren't who we should be worried about, they're practically harmless compared to the Berserkers." I said forgetting the fact that Mel and Amber didn't know about them.
"What are those?" Amber asked with her phone practically in my face.
She was recording this...of fucking course she was.
"The real bio-weapon, the Crawlers are just the first line of defense for him...the Berserkers are where the real danger lies, but thankfully I don't think any of them made it out of the lab." I explained, but in all honestly I didn't really believe that anymore than I did the first time I explained it.
"Great no we have something else to worry about." Melissa said with a small sigh. "What else haven't you told us Sarge?"
"Nothing that was it." I answered softly.
"Good, because my brother and I are trusting you with our lives and I would hate for you to betray that trust." she warned.
"Then maybe you can do me a favor." I said as I readjusted the baby in my arms. "Could you please try and get along with Amber until this is over and then you can never see each other again."
"Fine as long as she never talks to me again." Melissa counter with a hopeful smirk.
"I can't control who she chooses to talk to, so I don't know how I could agree to that."
"Amber do you agree to the terms?" Johnny asked as he blocked her phone camera with his hand.
"If it means that she stops brieen up my past." Amber responded before looking at herself in her phone and duck lipped. "Sorry I look like a crazy person right now."
We had never seen or heard her vlog before and we damn sure didn't want to be in them with her.
She just mumbled on and on about how bad her anxiety had got as the days went by, but in reality she seemed perfectly fine to us...if anything she was too relaxed sometimes.
The she talked about how crazy her hair looked piled on top of her head in a 'poop' bun as Mel called it.
This woman didn't care anything, but her stupid channel that probably no one was watching anymore, because they were dead.
"Shut it off Amber." I ordered sternly. "We need to make sure that those Crawler don't attack the truck." I pointed towards her window. "Someone must have finally gave them their order."
"Mel, start the truck and drive." Johnny ordered.
"How do we know that they won't just follow us?" Amber asked finally sounding scared.
"They'll follow the sound, but they're so slow that we'll probably out run them." Mel said before turning the truck over.
"Wait." I protested before she had the chance to put it into gear. "We need to figure out who gave the order."
