Unlocked Powers

The clean white halls of the hospital echoed each footstep Lucas made. The floor was so clean he could look down and see his own face. The day was very special to Lucas, for a very particular reason. He was to begin his journey finally. But he needed to do something first before beginning.

He continued to walk through the halls of the hospital. He stopped at a door. He let out a breath before entering it. On the bed was his brother, Claus. Claus looked over and smiled. He was attacked a few months prior by a villain calling himself Porky. It caused Claus to require the need of a hospital 24/7 as they thought of a way to get him out. His heart, bodily functions, and many other parts of Cluas's body were affected.

Lucas sat on a chair near the bed, smiling back at Claus. "How're you feeling?"

"As good as I can." Claus's eyes were different. They were once an emerald green. Currently, they were blood red. Lucas rubbed Claus's hand.

"Today is a big day."

"Why is that?"

"I-I'm going to unlock my power!!"

"Really?"

"Yeah, and once I train, I'm going to find that son of a bitch!!" Lucas chuckled a little. But he stopped as he saw Claus's smile disappear.

"Don't go into this with the mindset of revenge, Lucas." Lucas lowered his eyes, slumping his chair.

"But I need to-"

"You don't need to. You're a hero deep down, don't let that revenge beat you down." Claus gripped Lucas's hand tightly. "What better way to get at him than by becoming the best hero you can be." Lucas bit his cheek a little as he thought. "Promise me, Lucas. No revenge." Lucas looked into Claus's new eyes, sighing softly.

"I-I'll try my best." Claus let go of Lucas prompting him to stand. "I've got to head over for my exam."

"Good luck, Lucas. Thanks for visiting."

"Of course." Lucas leaned down and kissed his brother's forehead. "I hope you'll be better soon." Claus nodded as Lucas left the Hospital Room. Once he did, Claus's smile disappeared. It wasn't long after he left that someone stepped into the room. It was the doctor. But he held something in his hands. It was a helmet.

"You ready for the training?" the doctor asked. Claus just nodded at him.

Lucas rushed through the city, needing to find his way to Power Examination. He was already running a little late by needing to stop by Claus. He entered the large building to see a few other people his age sitting around waiting for their turn at examination. Lucas rushed over to the counter where a lady sat. She looked up. Her nametag said her name was Daisy. She crossed her arms. "You're late."

"I-I know, I was just visiting my brother," Lucas nervously said. Daisy let out a small sigh before grabbing a clipboard. She read it down and up before putting it down.

"You're lucky he doesn't have any patients yet." She pressed a button nearby which called for the doctor. Lucas waited for only a little moment. He then saw his doctor, X, popping up in the left hallway with a smile.

"Lucas, morning." Lucas walked over with a smile.

"S-sorry I'm late, Doc."

"Pff, no worries. Come." X turned around and walked off with Lucas in tow. "Are you nervous?"

"A-a little." X got to an open door and motioned for Lucas to step in.

"No worries, everyone is nervous about their examination." Lucas stepped into the room and just instantly sat on the metal bed. X went in soon after, closing the door. He sat before bringing out his clipboard. "Now, before the examination goes through, I must make sure you're viable and capable of having it. We just have to do a simple check-up."
