A Messed Up Halloween

Lucas rushed out of his room to see his brother on the couch. "Why didn't you wake me up?!?!"

"Huh?" Claus asked as he looked up from his Switch.

"It's fucking Noon!!"

"Oh, for school?"

"Yes!!"

"There was no school today," Claus answered simply.

"Huh? Why?" Claus shrugged before resuming his game. That was when there was a knock at the front door. Lucas walked over and opened it. There was Ness, or rather, who he thought was Ness. He was wearing a weird outfit. He wore a strange black and white striped vest over a white undershirt. He was also wearing a bowtie that looked to be based on some black cat. His pants were the same design as the vest. And his face and any exposed skin seemed to have been painted white and black. He looked like a skeleton. "Ness?"

"Yo!!" Lucas took another look at what he was wearing. That was when he realized what the outfit and paint looked like.

"Jack Skellington?"

"Yuppers!! The Pumpkin King himself," Ness said as he winked at Lucas.

"Wow. Looks great on you."

"Thanks. But where's your costume?" Lucas tilted his head in confusion. "You do have a costume, right?"

"No, why would I need a costume?"

"I-it's Halloween," Ness answered, his voice being a bit shaken from shock.

"What's Halloween?" Ness crossed his arms.

"I thought I told you..." he shook his head before looking into the house to see Claus. "Hey, Claus, what time is it?"

"Noon."

"Noon. That's still enough time." He grabbed Lucas's hand. "Let's go, we're going to get you a costume. I'm going to give you a Halloween you'll never forget!!" Lucas smiled.

"I'll be gone, Claus, don't wait for me."

"Have fun..." he spat out. Lucas shut the door. Once the door was shut, Ness began dragging Lucas down the sidewalk.

"Where're we going exactly?"

"Spirit Halloween."

"I never heard of that place."

"Of course you haven't." Lucas just smiled as Ness rushed him down the sidewalk. They went quickly and within about an hour, they made it to the shopping center of the city. Their walking slowed down a bit as they entered the main complex of stores.

"So...what happens on Halloween exactly?" Lucas asked.

"Well, lots of things. But some things are like Trick or Treating, Pumpkin Carving, there's quite a bit of other stuff."

"Trick or Treating?"

"Yeah. Where you go from house to house to get a ton of candy and whatnot."

"Is that safe?"

"Who knows? There are probably a ton of people who take advantage of that. But hey, it's part of the fun of Trick or Treating," Ness laughed. However, Lucas didn't exactly laugh. It wasn't long before they stopped right in front of the Spirit Halloween. To which Lucas just tilted his head as he looked up at the name.

"Uhm, wasn't this Petco?"

"Yeah, it was. But now it's not." Lucas looked over at him. "The thing with these places is that they just seem to spawn in."

"Oh, weird."

"Yeah. But come on." Ness led Lucas into the building, letting go of his hand. Once Lucas stepped in, he got jumpscared by a zombie animatronic thing jumping at him.
