already gone

stay away from me,
I hold signs out for you -
but they're all upside down from your view.

I bring thunder & lightning over your town,
what you see
is not all that I am -
there is much more...

I thought speaking was enough,
but you still wouldn't get me.
I wished for you,
now I wish I didn't.

I thought speaking was enough,
but you don't want to hear me say
you stick, you stay, to your heart you obey.
too much, it's leading you on
much too far, I'm already gone.

a poem about unrequited love, but from the perspective rarely talked about...
always remember: if you need to actually convince someone to be in love with you, then this person is not for you - because even you can't force yourself to be in love with someone.

annotation: the line 'I hold signs out for you -
but they're all upside down from your view' stems pretty much from the song "The Enemy" by Andrew Belle, where it's like 'I hold a banner out for you, but it's upside down'.
next to real life events, this song was a main inspiration for this poem. I bet you know the song, if I may recommend: listen to it, I think it's such a good song! <3
