road to home

life is loud.
those guitar chords certainly are.
the softest kind of loud
for that you'll never retire
from these wires,
they're stringing you right along.

striking up wonderwalls,
catching golden tunes
in rusty cages and heart shaped boxes.

home is still where the record player is
it's in our hearts and in our souls -
a silver lining that doesn't wear off,
that boulevard of broken dreams has become
the road to home.

this one's dedicated to my love for old, classic rock & grunge music - what I've grown up with in a way (even though I was born way too late) and about how listening to these songs feels like coming home.

I don't know if this one can be very relatable for everyone, but I just had so much fun writing this.
Thank you lots for reading and definitely let me know your thoughts.🌹❤️

references:
1 "life is loud" Kerrang-Magazine slogan
2 "wonderwalls" of course referring to 'Wonderwall' by Oasis
3 "rusty cages" referring to Soundgarden's song 'Rusty Cage'
4 "heart-shaped boxes" referring to Nirvana's 'Heart-Shaped Box'
5 "boulevard of broken dreams" referring to Green Day's song with the same name too

annotation: these are of course only very few songs and artists I mentioned, there's so many more...

xo, S🌹❤️
