Kemi's POV
I was really sad. My whole body shook as I broke into sobs crying my eyes out. Even without a quick glance at the mirror I knew my appearance was awful. I wiped away the tears on my eyes smearing the eyeshadow I had applied earlier. And for a second I wished I had turned down his request to hangout. Maybe this would have been avoided.
Staring blankly at the ceiling in my bedroom I reminisced the whole event that had taken place at the restaurant. Victor appeared so hurt and totally out of control but we had realized too late that people had started to stare at us. He became calm pretending like nothing had happened. I watched as he forced a smile pulling me up from my seat and that's how we had walked out without even waiting for our meal to arrive.
We both had lost appetite.
I had given up on anything positive between us. And I was shocked when he drove me back home amidst the crisis. He hadn't spoken a word. I had stood standing in front of my apartment with a sober look, watching him as he drove out of my compound heading to only God knows where.
Maybe I wouldn't have told him. Was I to wait till he found out himself? Or maybe my timing wasn't just accurate. I felt drained and regretted everything that had happened.
"Adesua?" I called out slowly. My voice sounded so strange to even my ears.
The young girl walked into the room staring down at the marbled floor as if afraid that I would strike her on the face."What of Ronke?" I asked her watching her keenly as she raised her head slowly to look my way.
"She stepped out after you had left." Came her slow reply.
"Sit." I instructed patting a spot on the bed.
She walked in slowly climbing the bed and sat next to me.
"Now, tell me. How did you become friends with Kelvin?"
"I met him online. We started to chat and he invited me over." She spoke.
"So you mean to say, you have been visiting him in this same Lagos and you didn't see it fit to inform me of your friend?"
"I wasn't sure about him yet. I wanted to be sure. And I swear I didn't no he was the twin brother to Victor."
"You are mean't to share your problems with me Adesua. Why did you make it a big deal. Instead, you travelled down here just to report a man for rape. It is every where now. "
"I am sorry. A friend of mine told me he had a pending case in court and was yet to be verdicated and so the best time to report him was now." She explained.
"And this rape must have happened some months ago I presume. Because if you are pregnant now. It couldn't have happened just yesterday."
"Yes. It happened the last time I visited him. A month ago." She replied.
My cellphone rang in my pocket and I withdrew it praying fervently that it shouldn't be my mum. I lacked the words to explain what was going on. Surprisingly it was Sharon. Victor's Ex
"Hey, hello?" I spoke up.
"Hey. " She replied calmly.
I waited but she was yet to say more and I was left uneasy not enjoying the silence.
"Can we meetup somewhere?. Maybe a lounge or somewhere really private." She broke in.
"What time?" I replied even if I felt skeptical about her sudden desire to see me.
"Ten minutes or so "
"That's too sudden. Why not a bit later?" I squeezed my brows.
"Because, it is a matter of urgency." She replied and I sighed.
