Victor's POV.

I missed her.
Her soft laughter and charming self.
Days had passed without any communication from each other. I held onto my phone contemplating on the decision to call her.
The time read 11pm. Would she be asleep?
Fighting with my thoughts. I tapped on her digits waiting till it rings.

First, second and third ring. Yet no response.
Probably she was asleep. But a loud beep came in immediately.

A short text highlighted on my screen. I tapped on it gingerly to read the content.

It was just a sentence.
"I don't want to talk to you."

I was drawn in a fixed state, either to reply or just let her be since she wasn't interested in any  conversation with me. But a second message popped in immediately before I could align my thoughts.

" So, the strings are still attached. You met Sharon?"

I was drawn back confused as hell as to how she had gotten such information. Yes, I had met Sharon but the conversation between us hadn't exceeded ten minutes. It was Sharon trailing me around till she had come unexpected inside my favourite bars in lekki over a lame request.

I sighed tapping into my phone hurriedly.
"Yes, we met. But it was a harmless meetup. I didn't even know she knew where I was. She just walked into the bar I was seated at."

"Did you fuck her?"  Her reply came in immediately and I frowned tapping on her digits. I was less concerned about her mood. One way or the other I wasn't going to let the both of us sleep till she answered my call.

As expected it kept ringing but she wouldn't pick.  Finally on the sixth ring her voice rushed in.

"I don't want to hear your voice Victor."

"I don't give a fuck Kemi."   I replied angrily
"Can you go over the question you had just texted minutes ago?"  I requested waiting for a response.  I heard her sigh but I wasn't concerned. I hadn't mean to sound harsh but I couldn't  control my disappointment on her judgement.

She was quiet.

"Kemi. I am talking to you."   I growled over her silence.

"I am confused victor, alot has been going on lately. Things are complicated already. We have a case tomorrow about your brother and my sister. Then it's you linking up with your ex."

"To answer your first accusation. Nothing of sort happened between myself and Sharon. You need to stop all this negativity."   I frowned.

"But things can never be like it used to be , we can't pretend. I don't want a messed up relationship.we aren't healthy."  She rushed in and my frown deepened.

"So what are you suggesting?"  I questioned fully aware of her answer but I needed confirmation.

We were drawn into a long silence and maybe each of us consumated in what was about to come. A relationship that had started not too long was already shrinking.

"We should give each other some space. No calls or texts."

"Space?"  I laughed over the phone.

"Yes, space."  She repeated.

"I don't want space of any sort."   I pointed out.

"But....,"  She started but I was quick to cut her short.

"We should just end it. Instead of the space talk. I don't want to be running round in circles."  I suggested.
