Approaching the concealed dock, I gather my focus and harness the ancient power within. With a silent invocation, the water's essence responds to my call. I feel the surge of energy as my mermaid form begins to shift. Waves of transformation ripple through me, dissolving my tail into legs adorned with glistening droplets.

The intricate scales and iridescent fins vanish, leaving behind a luminous aura that whispers of hidden enchantments. In the blink of an eye, I conjure my travel attire - a loose-fitting beige shirt that flows in the sea breeze, sea foam green jacket, complemented by black pants and comfortable shoes. Every trace of my mermaid heritage and regal status is tucked away, hidden from prying eyes.

"Should you ever need anything, Princess, we are but a call away," Josephine, our esteemed siren, assured me. I embraced her warmly, grateful for her steadfast presence as my loyal escort all these times. Though restrained in her emotions, I could sense a tinge of fondness as we bid farewell.

As I ventured along the coastline, I passed through a quaint hamlet where friendly locals bestowed small tokens for my journey. With no one in sight, I focused my thoughts and apparated to Hogsmeade, arriving just before the grand entrance bridge. Turning around, a surge of joy and wonder filled me as Hogwarts stood before me, its magnificent presence commanding my awe. Embarking on the downhill path, I relished the peacefulness of a Saturday with only a gentle crunch of gravel beneath my feet, its familiar sound bringing solace to my soul.

Gazing out at the tranquil expanse of the Black Lake, I released a contented sigh. Later, I would definitely need to take a swim and pay a visit to Cephy, the affectionately nicknamed giant squid that dwells within.

Passing through the grand doors of Hogwarts, I reached into my backpack to retrieve Professor Weasley's letter, which directed me to her office. The Headmistress's quarters were nestled in the highest tower, an ascent that left me breathless but filled with anticipation for our meeting.

"Yvaine!" Headmistress Weasley exclaimed, pulling me into an embrace filled with fondness and respect. "Look at how much you've grown! How are you, and how is your mother?"

"I missed you too, Professor... Oh, I mean Headmistress," I chuckled. "It's been a whirlwind with my training, and we recently had my succession ceremony where my mother and the kingdom officially recognized me as heir to the realm."

"I still can't believe how little we knew about your realm, right under our noses. Ah, yes, I received your mother's invitation, but I couldn't seem to escape my duties here. I do apologize," she said with a hint of regret.

"We'll have plenty of time to make up for it," I replied, embracing her once again.

"Speaking of which... here are your curriculum outlines for this year as the Professor of Magical Beasts," she said, handing me the parchment. However, I noticed that they were actually for Defense Against the Dark Arts. I read the assigned teacher and smiled. Ominis Gaunt.

I pointed out the mistake, and she chuckled as she took back the parchments.

"Oh dear, my apologies. It's been quite a hectic week for me... Here you go," she said, handing me a different stack.

I still couldn't believe that I would be a professor, of all people.

"Will Sebastian Sallow be teaching as well? I've heard some vague comments here and there," I asked curiously.

"Yes, he will be teaching Potions and Ancient Runes. After everything that happened during your fifth year and after, I wanted to support second chances and rehabilitation. It was a dark time for Mr. Sallow, and he has been channeling his energies into something positive. We'll see how it all plays out this year," she commented.

"Are the other professors here?"

"Yes, some of them will be coming early next week to prepare. Let's see... I have Poppy Sweeting, and Garrett Weasley. Sebastian Sallow and Ominis Gaunt actually came this week. In fact, I spoke with Ominis just before you came in."

My heart skipped a beat as I perused the new set of parchments. A rush of emotions flooded over me, a mixture of anticipation, curiosity, and an undeniable connection that had been growing between us through our correspondences over the years

Ominis Gaunt was a man of extraordinary depth, someone I deeply admired for his unwavering commitment to the path of righteousness. Despite his family's dark history and their allegiance to the dark arts, he had chosen a different course, one rooted in light and redemption. I couldn't help but be drawn to his wisdom, resilience, and the inner strength that radiated from him.

There was a magnetic pull between us, an unspoken connection that transcended mere words. In his presence, I felt a sense of understanding and acceptance that I hadn't experienced before.

I exited Headmistress Weasley's office and made my way towards the professor quarters. As the evening approached, I embarked on the search for my room. After a bit of wandering and few wrong turns, I finally found it, adorned with a placard that read "Professor Yvaine Seraphine."

A small gasp escaped my lips as I noticed Ominis and Sebastian's names listed next to mine. The faint glow of light emanated from beneath Ominis' door, capturing my attention. Acting on impulse, I eagerly knocked on his door, hoping not be a nuisance. For a moment, I contemplated darting back to my own room, but before I could make a move, the doorknob clicked.

And there he stood, Ominis Gaunt, leaning casually against the frame with one hand in his perfectly blonde styled hair and a mischievous grin on his face.

"Well, well, if it isn't my favorite little witch," he drawled in a delightfully British accent, his tone dripping with playful sarcasm. "Come to brighten up my evening, have you?"

"OMINIS!" I squealed in delight, unable to contain my excitement. I threw my arms around him, squeezing tightly and almost knocking the poor bloke off his feet. But he took it in stride, chuckling as he wrapped his arms around me, returning the embrace with a warmth that felt like home.

"Steady on, love," Ominis chuckled, pretending to stumble under my enthusiastic hug. "Be careful, or you'll have the honor of being the first person to knock out the esteemed blind professor. Quite the achievement, that."

"Is it really my fault for getting too excited? I haven't seen you in what.. a year?" I said teasingly. Ominis eyes sparkling with shared excitement. "Ah, my dear Yvaine, I see your point,. Come on in, and let's see what trouble we can stir up together to make up for the lost time." He said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

As the door closed behind me, the air crackled with the promise of adventure, and I couldn't wait to see what delightful chaos awaited us.
