It had been a whirlwind since Ominis, Sebastian, and I arrived at Hogwarts. So much had transpired, not only in our professional pursuits but also on a personal and even spiritual level. It felt like an awakening, a profound shift in our beings.

Amidst the chaos of new revelations, emotions, and burgeoning magical abilities, I struggled to focus on the offensive spell that Professor Sharp was teaching me. My mind wandered, a rarity for me, as I grappled with the influx of abnormalities that seemed to surround me.

"Yvaine," Professor Sharp's voice cut through my distracted thoughts. "Pay attention. A momentary lapse can prove fatal. I've seen it happen far too many times, where a mere second of distraction costs a fellow Auror their life."

"I apologize, Professor," I said, genuine remorse coloring my words. "I didn't mean to show disrespect."

"I understand, Yvaine. I know you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders," he replied, placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder. Though empathy was not his strong suit, his dedication to teaching and guiding me, even now as an adult, motivated me nonetheless.

"Now, based on what your mother had shown me in the past," Professor Sharp continued, gesturing with his wand, seemingly extracting magic from an invisible source. "One can learn to draw upon the elements, channeling their magic to enhance our spells, infusing them with greater potency." With a flourish of his wand, an immense surge of power erupted, creating a sizable crater in the boulder we had been using for target practice.

"Like the actual 4 elements? Earth, Air, Fire and Water?" I asked surprised.

"I'm sure your well aware of water but yes... your mother didn't go into great detail about the mechanics of this spell.. most likely just to keep your magic a secret to some degree." He explained as he channeled another spell.

After hours of practicing the mentally draining Elementum spell, I felt a profound exhaustion settle within me. I couldn't help but imagine the overwhelming toll it would take on a human, possibly leaving them utterly incapacitated, both physically and mentally.

That night, seeking solace, I ventured out for another swim, my mind plagued by unrelenting curiosity. Against my better judgment, I decided to check if Ominis was in the Slytherin common room. As I approached, the weight of anticipation mingled with an underlying sense of foreboding.

There he sat, by the crackling fireplace, absorbed in a braille book about Dark Objects. A growing pile of tomes gathered beside him, evidence of his tireless pursuit of a specific goal. His intense focus was palpable.

Abruptly, frustration overcame Ominis, and he flung the book aside, startling me with the sudden movement. My heart raced as I swam closer to the window, peering inside to catch a glimpse of the discarded volume. Its title, "Forbidden Dark Objects: Lost in Time" by Nocturna Gaunt, sent a chill through my veins. What dark secrets was he seeking within those forbidden pages? What tormented him so deeply?

Ominis, consumed by his quest, paced back and forth in front of the window, his thoughts trapped in a labyrinth of anguish. Shadows danced across his face, mirroring the turmoil within his soul. I yearned to understand the depths of his troubles, to offer solace, but the barrier between us felt insurmountable.

Desperation clung to the air as Ominis spoke hesitantly, his voice laced with a mixture of longing and uncertainty, "Are you there?"

Panic and indecision clashed within, leaving me at a loss for words. In that moment, I reached out, my hand mimicking his own pressed against the glass, a silent gesture conveying empathy and the shared weight of our inner struggles..
