I'm in deep concentration styling Poppy's hair in half up hairstyle with tendrils framing her delicate features. She really is stunning. She opted for a dark green dress with intricate gold details adorning the top, Poppy captivates with an endearing allure. Once worn by her grandmother, she updated it for the occasion, preserving its timeless beauty while adding a touch of her own style. A delicate necklace her grandmother gave her complements the gown, twinkling like stardust, carrying a legacy of love.

My mother insisted in helping with the making of my dress. The floor length gown is off shoulder and is a rich dark teal hue resembling the depths of the ocean. The gown's intricate sparkly bodice adds a touch of enchantment and the bottom is adorned with slight ocean-themed patterns. The V-line cut of the bodice exudes elegance without being too revealing, showcasing my collarbones with grace.

As I move, the gown shimmers like moonlit waves, creating an ethereal and dreamy effect. It feels like I'm enveloped in a world of underwater wonders, surrounded by the captivating beauty of the sea. This gown is not just a dress; it's a silent and heartfelt tribute to my home. I feel like a true mermaid princess, and I can't help but cherish every moment in this magical attire.

Excitement filled the air as we put on the final touches and giggled with anticipation, admiring ourselves in the mirror. Poppy and Garreth had decided to go to the ball as friends. Despite my lessons with Ominis and Sebastian, I couldn't help feeling nervous. As we hurried outside and started walking towards the Great Hall hand in hand, we overheard Imelda Reyes and her group of friends ahead of us.

"I know he'll be mesmerized when he sees you, Imelda. Sebastian will be absolutely smitten with that dress," a Slytherin remarked loudly.

"As he should! He practically begged me to be his date to the ball. It was only a matter of time before he came to his senses," she replied smugly.

"I thought he would've asked Yvai—" another Slytherin began to say before Imelda cut her off.

"He asked ME, Clara," Imelda said with an eye roll. They walked down the steps, thankfully out of earshot. I couldn't understand why it bothered me that Sebastian was with Imelda. I mean, in a twisted sort of way, they did make sense together.

I rolled my eyes at the white lie.

"There you two are! Yvaine, Ominis is waiting at the bottom of the steps for you!" Garreth exclaimed with excitement, the high energy of the Yule Ball evident in all of us. The enchanting atmosphere celebrated Hogwarts and our Triwizard champions, making these moments on land truly worth it.

Garreth stole Poppy away, and I carefully descended the steps, hoping not to trip over my dress. The stares and whispers were hard to ignore, but just as I considered turning around, I spotted Ominis at the front, looking utterly handsome and elegant in his formal attire.

With excitement, I hurried over to him and, in my haste, tripped slightly over my heels, finding myself stumbling into his arms.

"I'm so sorry, Ominis," I said, giggling with nervousness.

"I don't mind you falling into my arms," he teased, whispering, "You look breathtaking, by the way."

Raising an eyebrow at him, I playfully pouted and giggled. "Don't give me that look now," he continued, making me blush. "I can still hear and how everyone was staring at you adoringly."

His comments made me blush uncontrollably. Ominis had always been polite and platonic, but tonight, something in his words hinted at the possibility of something more, and I found myself secretly hoping for it.

But I shook my head, scolding myself for such thoughts. Nothing could change now, I reasoned.

As Ominis linked his arm with mine and led me to the Great Hall, I happened to meet Sebastian's eyes across the hallway. He was walking into the hall with Imelda, and for those few seconds, his gaze burned through me with a hint of what seemed like hate.
