We fell in love in October by Girl In Red on SpotifyFortunately for Ominis, we had a brief holiday during the semester, affording him additional time to recuperate. Sebastian had opted to pay a visit to Anne and partake in a festival being held in their hamlet. This left Ominis and I at Hogwarts, with a skeleton staff in attendance since most of the students and faculty had also departed.
I awoke and followed my usual morning dress routine before making my way towards Ominis' quarters, drawn by the sound of some commotion just outside his door.
"Ugh... blast it all... that's the third time I've collided with that blasted chest," I overheard from behind the door. As I knocked, I heard more fumbling and a few choice curses.
The door creaked open, revealing a somewhat disheveled Ominis.
"Morning, sunshine," I greeted him as he continued to struggle with his gaze. "Omi, you'd think I'm positively grotesque, the way you're grimacing."
"It's certainly not you, love," he responded, retreating into his room to complete his dressing. "It's just... it's a lot, and the way I dress now is quite different. I've been going by texture and trying to connect what I know to the actual visual image... if that makes any sense?"
I nodded in understanding, acknowledging his challenge. "Well, blind or not, your ties were a bit crooked," I teased.
"Excuse me, they were not," he protested, feigning offense.
I moved closer to help him adjust it, and in a sudden and unexpected moment, his hand wrapped around mine, which was resting on his knot.
I gazed into his sea-blue-green eyes, sensing that same irresistible pull. With a deliberate slowness, I began to undo his tie, gently sliding it off.
"Emerald," I stammered, my cheeks flushed.
He raised an inquisitive eyebrow at me.
"The color of your tie," I managed to explain, accompanied by a nervous gulp.
"Oh... and what about this?" he inquired, his fingers tracing the partially unbuttoned shirt and rolled-up sleeves, creating an enticing disheveled look.
"Um... black," I replied, feeling the heat rise in my cheeks and my pulse quicken.
"And this?" he whispered, his touch grazing down my chest over my sweater. "It feels oddly familiar."
"Also green, but more of a forest green. It's soothing... and, well, it's yours," I admitted with a hint of embarrassment. "I borrowed it... a long time ago."
"No wonder, little witch," he teased playfully. "I'd been blaming Sebastian all this time, as he's not exactly the tidiest." He said, then playfully tickled me.
"Ominis... it's not polite to stare," I chided, gently pulling away from his intense gaze.
"I can't seem to help it," he confessed softly. "You're the only sight I would wish to burn into my memory. You are indeed heaven's light."
I playfully nudged him, only for him to respond by pulling me into a warm embrace. We continued our discussions, delving into various topics related to his newfound ability. He absorbed every word I uttered, eagerly practicing the association of things with his previous experiences, demonstrating a rapid grasp of the concept. Perhaps tomorrow, we might venture outside the castle, starting off gradually in the morning.
Hours with Ominis seemed to slip away all too swiftly. Later in the evening, we decided to dine in Hogsmeade at a charming new little shop. We selected a table near a small window, aiming to minimize stimuli while still providing enough opportunity for him to practice.
