Yvaine POVAfter catching up with Poppy, confessing everything, and hiding out with her for the past two nights, I finally felt well enough to venture back to my office. As I entered the room, a sight awaited me that both surprised and delighted me—small magical creatures running amuck, their playful energy filling the air. I couldn't help but smile at the chaos they had caused.
Setting aside my initial instinct to hide, I decided it was time to face one of them head-on. Ominis, with his gentle demeanor, entered the classroom and gracefully bent down to pet one of the creatures that had found its way to his leg. It was a heartwarming scene, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that he had found some solace in their presence.
"Hello again, little one," Ominis said sweetly as he continued to pet the creature nestled against his leg. With care and familiarity, he moved on to another area where he had set up a reading nook and treats for the animals nearby. It was evident that this was a routine for him. How long had he been patiently waiting here, hoping for an opportunity to speak with me?
I observed him for a while, uncertain of how to initiate the conversation. The words lingered on the tip of my tongue, but the weight of recent events kept me hesitant.
"Hello again, little witch," Ominis spoke, a faint smirk dancing upon his lips. "I see you've finally made it back." He pulled out a book on curses, utilizing a braille spell, his eyes scanned the pages with a mix of interest and intrigue.
"Yes... I was around, just not always visible," I replied, my voice carrying a hint of hesitancy as I played with a strand of my hair.
"Ah, I see... trying to evade us, I suppose. Well, you definitely succeeded," he said, a touch of hurt underlying his words. I hadn't intended to hurt him, especially after that night. The truth was, I was grappling with my own confusion and uncertainty. I didn't know how to navigate these new developments, how to reconcile the conflicting emotions within me.
Taking a deep breath, I walked over to him and took a seat beside him. Ominis, dressed in a green button-up shirt with a loosely tied black tie, exuded an air of quiet confidence. His folded sleeves revealed the hint of a tattoo that I did not remember seeing.
"I've missed you though," I said, a softness in my voice that matched the smile playing on his lips. Those lips, I thought, recalling the comfort they brought when they traced my skin. "Come with me, Omi," I added, taking his hand in mine and leading him out of the room.
"Where are we going?" he asked, adjusting our intertwined hands so that his rested gently on top of mine. Together, we walked through the halls of Hogwarts, ascending flights of stairs until we reached the music room. It was a place often overlooked by many, unless they had a specific reason to be there. The room provided a sense of solace, tucked away from the bustling corridors of the school, and it took a bit of a trick to find.
The classroom exuded a captivating beauty, adorned with a small seating arrangement resembling an amphitheater. Its charm was further enhanced by the presence of stairs leading to the bell towers of the school.
"I haven't set foot in this place since my first year," Ominis remarked, his acute hearing undoubtedly capturing the acoustic qualities of the room.
"Here's something you might not know," I began, "there's a remarkably ancient piano hidden at the back. It's been enchanted to remain invisible, though. I believe someone started repairing it and it may be finished now."
Guiding Ominis, I led him to the concealed area of the classroom, conveniently positioned near the podium.
"Revelio," I whispered, casting the enchantment. "Omi, I wish you could see it. Despite its age, it's absolutely stunning."
