Zayn was absent mindedly looking out the window when the door to his office opened
He turned around and Connor stood there, he hesitated but took the necessary steps to reach Zayn and stood beside him
He looked at how Zayn was standing with his hands behind his back, like Yaser did at times and decided to do the same
They both looked out the window, silently
"Did you enjoy your birthday this year?"
Connor looked up at Zayn who was still looking out the window "Uh-huh"
Zayn nodded "I didn't get you anything"
Connor shrugged "That is Ok."
Zayn looked at him "Is it?"
Connor nodded "Uh-huh. You uhh-" He frowned
Zayn tilted his head to the side and Connor looked at his feet "Keep dad safe" Connor mumbled
Zayn froze for a second before he knelt down
"You don't want me to get you anything for your birthday…. Because I kept your dad safe?"
Connor quickly looked at Zayn and frantically nodded "Yeah!!"
Zayn smiled weakly "That's more for your dad than it is for you"
Connor smiled and shook his head "I like when dad is safe"
Zayn nodded "But I still want to get you something" He said before he started to tie Connor's shoes
Connor stayed quiet then looked up at Zayn when he stood up again
"Beach?"
Zayn chuckled then stood up "You want to go to the beach?" Connor nodded "That's it?"
Connor smiled "I like the beach"
Zayn nodded and turned to look out the window again "We'll go to the beach"
Connor stayed quiet and Zayn thought Connor left but he patted Zayn's hand
Zayn looked at him and nodded
"Me, dad, Stell and uhh- You"
Zayn smiled and nodded "Ok"
He stood on his toes and raised his pinkie finger
Zayn linked them and Connor smiled
"Promise!"
Zayn laughed quietly "Yeah. Promise"
