"Beach time!" yells Sunoo, who bursted out of the car the moment it was parked..
They had been planning this trip to the beach for a week or two already. Why not? After all, it was already mid June.
As she gets out of the car, Giselle squints at the bright sun, adjusting her white bucket hat.
Her floral sundress billows, flapping gently in the breeze. The waves crashed against the shore repeatedly. The scent of the salty sea wafted in the air. The soft sand squished under her sandals. She takes a deep breath to inhale the air when-
Her shoulder was harshly slammed by a 6 foot body, "Sorry, Noona!" Ni-ki calls as he runs past her with Jake hot on his trail.
"YOU HAD ONE JOB, NI-KI AND IT WAS TO BRING THE SUNSCREEN!"
Giselle stifles a laugh before rummaging through her satchel, calling to Jake, "Jake, I have a bottle!" she yells, waving the sunscreen into the distance.
The puppy boy stops in his tracks before jogging back. He takes the bottle gratefully, "Thanks. That kid-" he grumbles under his breath, walking away to apply the sunscreen.
"I'm hungry," Sunghoon complains, only to be whacked by the eldest. "We just ate an hour ago!" Heeseung reminds him.
Jay wordlessly searches through the box of snacks and tosses a Dorito bag at Sunghoon, who catches it in surprise.
"Giselle!" An excited Sunoo appears beside her. "Let's go swimming!" he tugs her forward.
She shakes her head, but smiles, "Sorry, it's probably best if I don't go in the water."
"Oh, okay." His head droops before jerking back up. "What about wading?"
She hesitates. It probably wouldn't hurt to. She could just join him up to the part where the water met her ankles.
"If it helps, Jungwon is there too."
She whips her head towards the distance, where he was pointing. Sunoo was right. In the water, around 20 feet away from the two, stood a Jungwon in waterproof, navy blue shorts and a white shirt.
Giselle scowls, "Are you shipping me with him?" she asks incredulously, although her heart yearned for his answer.
The boy shrugs, kicking the sand beneath their feet. "Maybe."
She rolls her eyes. "Fine, I'll go in the water. Happy?"
"Yay!"
They walk on the moist sand. When they reach the water, Giselle felt the cold sensation of the sea water wash over her feet.
She admired the water. The ocean was sparkling like champagne, its blue hue the color of the sky. The water formed tiny waves, one after another. She looks down, only to her glassy reflection against the water.
Her smile wavers. This feeling was only momentarily and there were few to come. Still, Giselle refused to let that ruin one of her last days.
"Hey!" Jungwon waddles towards her and Sunoo, snapping Giselle from her daze. He grins, the sea wind ruffling his hair, giving him a carefree appearance. He was effortlessly handsome.
"Hey." Was all she could say as she averted eyesight with him, trying to prevent him from seeing her red cheeks.
"LET'S PLAY VOLLEYBALL!" yells Jake, who tosses the volleyball into the air, in the distance, "THEY HAVE A NET HERE!"
