Giselle rubs her eyes tiredly, woken up by a sharp turn. Her eyes shot open. Why was she in a car?

Is someone trying to kidnap me? Oh, for God's sake, please no.

It was quite dark outside. Had she been sleeping for that long? Should she scream? Dial 911?

"Oh, Giselle, you're awake," a familiar voice says.

If she was still drowsy, she was completely awake now. "Who in the world are you?" she demands. "Are you trying to kidnap me? I can scream really loud if you are."

"Please don't scream," a feminine voice says from the driver's seat. "It would be unfortunate if I lost my hearing now."

"Relax, Giselle, it's me, Jungwon. My sister is the driver."

Giselle jerks upwards. Jungwon? She was in his sister's car? "Why am I in your car?" she asks calmly, shaking off the drowsiness.

"You fell asleep at the cafe. It's not a school night and I didn't want to wake you up, so I decided that you could stay at my house for the night."

Her mouth gaped like a fish. "You could've just woken me up."

Jungwon glances at her and flashes her a guilty smile. "You seemed tired and I didn't want to disturb you after..." he explains. After her crying session was left unspoken.

"O-Oh," Giselle's face reddens at the reminder and ducks her head. Right, she had cried in front of him. Now he knew how emotional she was. Damn. She swore to never cry in front of him ever again.

She stares out the window. Dim lights glow in the night as the two friends fall silent, running out of things to say. Giselle watches her surroundings change as the car pulls up in front of an unfamiliar driveway.

"Have fun you two. Jungwon, tell Mom that I'll be at my friend's house. We need to finish a project." Jungwon's sister informs him.

"You too, unnie." Giselle responds politely.

"Please call me Jiwon, being called unnie makes me feel old."

"Alright."

"Jungwon, does Mom know about Giselle staying for the night?" she asks her younger brother.

"Yeah, she does. I called her after I called you."

Giselle pushes the car door open, her heart beating faster as Jungwon follows. She was at Yang Jungwon's house. Something that she never dreamed of doing. As a friend.

Her heart flutters excitedly at the prospect of going to someone else's home. She never really went to playdates as a child. She wondered what she would do with Jungwon... until she realized she had a PreCalculus test on Monday.

Way to kill my excitement, she thought.

Jungwon takes out his keyring and inserted a key into the lock. He twisted the doorknob and opened the door. "Welcome to my house. Might be a little messy though."

They enter the house. Messy was quite an overstatement. Giselle admired the color choice and the decor of the house as they walked through the spacious rooms.

"Mom, I'm home!" Jungwon calls cheerfully.

A woman in her early 40s appeared in view. "Jungwon-ah! Is this your friend you said that was staying over?"

Giselle bows respectfully. "Hello, auntie. My name is Giselle."

Jungwon's mother smiled. "Hello to you too, dear. Would you like some ramyeon?"

She hesitates briefly. She didn't want to bother auntie. Suddenly, a swift, sharp jab in her ribs was felt and Giselle could only shoot a side glare at the culprit before answering, "Sure. Thank you so much."

The woman smiled and addressed Jungwon. "Jungwon-ah, you should take Giselle around. Go watch a movie or something." she suggests.

Jungwon nodded and tugged Giselle away.

"Did you have to jab me?" she complains as he pulls her to the living room.

"Yes. What movie do you want to watch?" he asks with a cheeky smile.

"Actually... I have a PreCalc test on Monday, so I need to study."

Jungwon frowned. "But it's the weekend!" he whined. "There's always Sunday!"

"Still. I need to study, Jungwon. It's an important exam."

"Important, schmportant. C'mon, you need a break occasionally!"

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes, yes, yes."

"Naur."

"Please?" he begged, flashing her a sad face.

"Aish, fine." she relents, folding her arms.

Actually, Giselle was going to comply almost immediately, but for some reason, seeing Jungwon trying to persuade her brought this side of her out.

"Yes!" he cheers, joining Giselle at the couch. Jungwon picks up the remote from the coffee table. "What movie do you want to watch?"

"Horror," she answers, flashing him a creepy smile. "I want to see you freak out."

He scoffs incredulously. "Me? No, you're the one who's gonna freak out."

Giselle shrugs. "We'll see about that. Pick any horror movie."

"It?" Jungwon read from the screen as he scrolled through the movies.

"Sure."

"I'll go get the snacks and some blankets, I'll be right back."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A loud scream could be heard in the living room.
Jungwon yelps as the ugly, scary clown appeared on the screen. He clutched the blanket tighter.
"Told you." Giselle remarks, grabbing a fistful or popcorn. She seemed oddly fine. No screaming or any ducking into the blanket.
"How are you not scared?" Jungwon demands. "Pennywise is one creepy clown."
Giselle glances at him. "There are worse things than a killer clown, Jungwon." she answers calmly. "It just doesn't scare me."
Jungwon nods quietly. What was worse than a ugly, creepy clown?
They watch the movie in silence. Jungwon occasionally jumped up from the couch from the scary bits, but the girl beside him didn't seem to give any reaction.
Halfway through the movie. Jungwon let out another yelp.
Giselle turns to him, cocking her head. "Do you want to do something else?" she asks considerately. "Seems like someone is afraid," she teases.
"Shut up," Jungwon mutters under his breath before hastily agreeing. He grabs the remote and shuts the TV off. "What do you want to do?" he asks.
"Your choice, Jungwon."
"Is there anything you're good at? Board games? Video games?"
She lets out a sigh. "I'm not really good with anything." she replies truthfully,
"C'mon, there has to be something. Any hobbies?"
Giselle fidgets with her fingers. "How do you feel about origami folding?"
