Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous How It Should Have Ended

Episode 2: The Lab

The next day began with the warm sun. Rocks and wood began to get heated up. Alpha stared out at the expanse of the forest. The sun warmed him up and he looked at all the other tree houses. Thankfully no consequences happened to him or Brooklyn from last night.  Kenji and Darius still had a punishment though. What better way to start a morning than a nice breakfast. I went on down and made some and ate it. Some simply grilled sausages. 

Before long the athlete who I had learned was named Yazmina went out for a morning jog. The others were groggy and tired. I decided to make some sausages for them. "Hey, I made you all some food." I said and handed them out. "Thanks, Alpha." Brooklyn yawned out and took one and put it in her mouth and ate it. "This is really good." Darius said and then Dave and Roxie came in. "Well campers, we have a huge activity planned today, we are going to the genetics lab." Dave announced. "Except for Kenji and Darius, we have something else planned for you." Roxie smirked at them making them both groan. 

While Darius and Kenji looked at what they had to deal with I shook my head. "That's a lot of crap." I muttered. Thankfully no one heard me. "You got a lot of work cut out for you so get to it." Roxie said and chucks two shovels at them. They groan and get to work as we leave. I nod to them in thanks and Darius waves back. 

I began to zone out of whatever they were talking about until I heard the most random thing. "Hand sanitizer. We don't know what kind of goo is at that lab. Were all just on the sticky and moist roller coaster ride called life." Ben ranted to Yaz. "You sure that isn't just a you thing?" I asked. "Okay, I'm on that ride, what crazy ride are you on?" Ben asked. "One  involving adventure." I said to him. We then stopped at the genetics lab. Brooklyn began to record. We stepped out and walked in. Cold air hit us making me shiver. Amber was everywhere in cabinets. Doctors hurried around and eggs were in. They all were being maintained by clawed arms. Mammoth bones and eye balls of who knows what was being moved around on trays. Then I stepped back as I saw him. Dr. Henry Wu. 

What he had done to me and to my parents was terrifying and I thought I would never have to see him again. I was so wrong. Wu didn't recognize me as he turned to us. I then began to look away and listen to them talk. "Ms. Dearing has rescheduled another meeting and projects. I cannot deal with children today." He said to us but Brooklyn had convinced him otherwise. She was very determined, I'll give her that. "Hey look over here." Dave said and we came over to an egg. It was shaking and hatched. A blue backed ankylosaur came out of the liquid and it took its first breath. "That's not possible." Wu said and walked on over. It rolled off the table and Ben caught it and laughed as it looked at him. "One of the head bumps is bigger than the others." Brooklyn pointed out. "Asymmetry in my lab!" Wu said enraged. "Life finds away." I said. Wu looked at me with a not that saying again look. I looked away if I feared one thing in this world and that was Wu. "What are you going to do with Bumpy?" Ben asked. "The asset will be delivered with the others soon and will grow to a bigger size in a few months." Wu explained. He strained on the word asset. I never liked animals being called assets. 

During Wu's rant I saw Brooklyn sneak down into the restricted hallway so I slipped in. I passed Sammy. "Oh hi." She said. "What are you doing?" I asked her. "Going to the bathroom, it's a maze here." Sammy said and I didn't buy it but why should I care about what she does. She left and I saw Brooklyn walk into Wu's room. I walked right behind her. She looked at the door in fear. She relaxed when she saw me. "What are you doing?" I asked her. "Looking at why this place is restricted." She said and began searching the computer files. "Well, can I help?" I ask. "Of course." She replied as we began looking. There were files on the T.Rex, velociraptors, spinosaurus which caught my eye and then something about a hybrid called the Indominus Rex and I felt enraged. Brooklyn then saw another file and she was recording the whole time. She then hovered over another file called "Project Alpha" making me freeze. I took control of the mouse and clicked on it. "Alpha?" She asked me. The project details began to read out. Images accompanied them. Some of them were descriptions and images of me. 

"After the unexpected birth of "Alpha" from our test subjects Sarah and Albert, we had to take the opportunity to study him. He has scaly skin as of the moment. A tail as well with some spikes and quill-like feathers on his neck and back. "Alpha" has brown hair and white skin when he is regular but it changes to black scales eventually. His hazel eyes remain the same and he grows fast. We have yet to take more tests since his disappearance but we are determined to find and continue our work." It read. I was breathing heavily. The world around me muffled. "Alpha?" Brooklyn shook me. I shook my head. "This report, is it talking about you?" She asked. "I-I need a moment outside. Some fresh air." I said and went outside in a rush. She followed me. I just moved past the treelines and laid by the tree. Brooklyn came beside me. "Do you want to talk about that?" She asked. "Later when we get back, there's a lot to take in right now." I told her. "Alright, I'll tell them you were feeling a little sick and needed a breather." She said and walked back inside. "Thank you." I said and then heard a roar. "Intruder." A deep voice roared out with rage. From a dinosaur. I walked away to get my mind off that and made it to a cage. Inside I saw Kenji and Darius running from a red and black Carnotaurus. I then climbed a tree and hopped down in a tumble.

Before long I caught up to the two boneheads. "So you were told to move crap until we got back and then you heard go look at a carnotaurus. I can't leave you both alone for 3 minutes." I complained. "Kenji did it." Darius said. "I don't care who did it." I said. "What are you here for?" Darius asked. "I heard a roar and screamed and rushed on over and then climbed a tree inside the cage and here I am." I told them and I pushed them from the carno who rammed down a whole tree. The carno got back up and charged. Kenji and Darius moved to a cage in the cage for food. They moved on through until it shut on Darius. I distracted the carno while Kenji grabbed a stick and freed Darius. I then jumped on back as he rammed his nose into the cage and it caused a gash. "Hah, you think you're slick, Toro." Darius looked at kenji confused. "Cause of the horns." Kenji explained and Darius had that realization look. "Hey Toro, your arms are useless at this point."  Darius told Toro. Toro rammed the cage. "You should go and head back now, we'll be coming back soon." I told them. They then ran off. "Sorry about that." I said to Toro. He grunted and left.

I walked out of the forest making myself look tired from vomiting but in truth I was tired from running for dear life. "You okay, Alpha?" Dave asked which I nodded. "Yeah, I just really needed some air." I told them and hopped in the back of the jeep. As we drove back I looked at Brooklyn and nodded. She nodded back knowing I was talking about what we found. We made it back and saw Darius and Kenji kneeling over out of breath. "Why are you two so out of breath?" Roxie asked. "Just doing the job we were told." Darius rasped out. "Well go take a shower and stay in there for a while." She told them. "Use soap, lots of soap." Ben said holding his nose. Looking back not a lot of the dung was moved. We drove up to the tree house and took the elevator up.

I went to take my own shower and I let the warm water run down. Eventually I got out and looked at the night sky. I got dressed and then Brooklyn came up to me. "Can we talk about this outside?" I asked. "Yeah, we can." She said and we went to the balcony. "I suppose I should begin." I told her. I then saw she didn't have her phone out. "Don't you want to record this?" I asked. "No, it seems personal to you." She said to me. "It is, thank you." I told her. "So my parents before me volunteered to be Wu's subjects needing the money but they had no clue of what he would do to them. He injected stuff into them making them better suited for a prehistoric world and they were never to form a child. They did have that child which is me. Then he commanded something to kill my parents so swiftly before sending it back and then he ran a test on me." I explained. "I'm so sorry." She said, sympathetically. "It's okay, eventually I escaped in some chaos with a power grid failure. Then some elderly took me in and I was invited here. You're the only other person I have told this to." I finished. "Thank you for trusting me." She said. "Thank you for not freaking out and telling anyone." I said in return. We both stared into the sky. "That other thing we found, the Indominus Rex." I began to say. "It's not a real dinosaur is it?" She asked. "Definitely not." I told her. "It's a hybrid of some dinosaurs then?" She asked. "It's gotta be." I said. "Hopefully we don't need to worry about it." She said. "Hopefully." I said and she leaned on me some, just slightly to where it was barely noticeable. I smiled and then we stood there in silence before heading to sleep. Tomorrow is a new day.
