For the longest time Wei Ying held onto Lan Zhan as he cried, he never knew that Lan Zhan had struggled so much to recognize his feelings, Wei Ying felt everything that Lan Zhan as thought it was his own pain, his own suffering, his own denial, he never knew that in Cloud Recesses he had tried his best to look out for him and protect him with the wine incident, Wei Ying never knew the kind of fear that Lan Zhan had felt when he fell into the Waterbourne abyss and he also that he had shattered Lan Zhan's hope believing that Wei Ying had not felt the same towards him so much so that Lan Zhan had then decided to rather distance himself from him and keep his love to himself, a secret he kept buried within his heart.

Wei Ying "I did not understand you then and for that I am sorry Lan Zhan, I am sorry that I have hurt you it was never my intention, I wanted to be friends unaware of my own feelings all I knew was that staying close to you bought comfort... safety I never once thought that it was more, how could I you were better than me"

Lan Zhan heard Wei Ying speak as though even now he was undeserving of him, he wondered as he held Wei Ying even closer how much damage was really done to him that made him believe that until he ended his own life to merely say the words as he fell to his death.

"There is more" said Lan Zhan as he waited for him to calm down, "I should've seen... it was obvious but I could not... would not"

"I understand" said Wei Ying as he let go and saw the sadness edged on Lan Zhan's face as his was confused by what was said "I really did not know then, even though I have copied the principles I always only remembered those that held importance and in sequence, your principles was important to you and in the time that I have written them over and over again I remember them as they were presented and thus without asking me to state the exact rule I would not remember... Lan Zhan this lowly one is sorry"

"Not lowly" said Lan Zhan as he raised Wei Ying's head to look him in his tear-stained eyes "Never lowly, mischievous, compassionate, loyal, trustworthy and my línghúnbànlǚ (Soulmate), my flame to my iced heart... Wei Ying you are what I need to complete me, fire and ice... summer and winter"

Wei Ying gave Lan Zhan a small but genuine smile before resting his head back on Lan Zhan's shoulder

"I know I have changed from then, I know they fear that... fear me, I saw it when HuaiSang was in the cottage with us but ever since I had only the Yin for protection I had changed as I no longer seek to protect everyone, just those closest to me and myself but everything has changed, the Lan Sect has changed, Da-Ge has changed, Waipo she came for me... ShiJie she knows" said Wei Ying as he let out a sigh "No one truly knows who I am besides Suibian and ChenQing"

"Wei Ying is still Wei Ying, it is understandable with the truth shown, Wei Ying never changed, Wei Ying adapted, kept to his core values but never changed," said Lan Zhan

"Can we keep watching?" asked Wei Ying as he lifted his head to look at Lan Zhan away from the empathy scene in front of them.

Lan Zhan could not resist, even as Wei Ying had cried, he remained beautiful and thus instead of answering first he cupped Wei Ying face gently bringing closer to his and kissed him softly before releasing then slightly nodded his head as they turned only their head to watch further still in each other embrace.

Lan Zhan stayed far from Wei Ying after the cold cave incident, no longer did he follow him around again as well but rather stay within the jìngyīn shì nor the library, his cold heart hurt and yet his thoughts always turned to when he tied his forehead ribbon around their wrists, how they had taken their bows, How Lan Zhan refused to let Wei Ying fall on the ground and rather on him with their faces only inches apart, how Wei Ying had protected Gusu Lan's Secret by telling the truth and withholding most of the information, he remembered the smile of apology that Wei Ying had given him when he had interrupted his speech. But now walking to the dock to head off to look for the other pieces he could not help but feel that he was leaving someone behind as his thoughts went back to what happened after the cold cave.
