chapter 12- Strangers Cabin

Chapter 12

Nightmares continued, never ending. Fear of being eaten alive, fear of not knowing when the day may come. Fear of not knowing when I will have to face someone I know again turned into a biter. Someone I could possibly care about I thought glancing at Ryder before turning my head to look out the window before feeling myself drift off.

I woke up feeling my breathing increase. I calmed myself as I looked to see everyone sleeping but Ryder as he continued to drive, we were in the middle of nowhere. No idea where to go, trees surrounding the road, making it harder to see.

"Let me drive" i tell him.

"We have to keep going, there has to be something...maybe a town or a city or even a camp. Something" he sighed making me look at him as he fidgeted his hand on the steering wheel.

"And we will find it, but you need sleep" i say to him as he looked over at me as he stopped the car. i don't know why i still care for him. he hurt me.  

"Were almost to E Ellie" he said making me look down.

"What now" i say making him look into the forest, i looked forward as i saw someone walking, they looked hurt as they struggled to walk before falling to the ground.

I got out of the car making Ryder go after me.

"Ellie no, he could be a biter" Ryder said to me looking at me hoping i would listen, but he already knew i wouldn't.

I went over to the guy trying to help him up.

"Hello? Are you hurt?" i ask bending down to help him

''Do you have water?" he asked, making me nod and grab some from the car. I looked at Jennie as she was sleeping on Carrie, i had to protect her. It's my job too. im not going to let her end up like tommy. 

I ran over to the man and gave him the water. He drank it like it was the first water he's had in days, he seemed older but not by much maybe in his late 20s, and very attractive but beat up

"Live around here?" he asked making me shake my head.

"I lived in the city....... Boston" i say
"Well, you're a long way from Boston" he said to me.

"There's not much of it left" i sigh.

"Say you give me a ride, and I'll let you guys crash with me for the night" the man said making me look at Ryder and he shook his head no

"We have kids in the car" i say making him look at the car then back at me, Ryder grabbed my knife and placed it near his neck "try anything, i kill you" Ryder threatened the man making him nod and Ryder hand me my knife back.

He squeezed in the backseat as everyone looked at him.

"Hi" the guy said making eye contact with Lydia.

"Hi" she said shocked by his good looks making me roll my eyes.

We were out in the forest when we saw a cabin, it was nice, it had stairs leading up to it and it looked in good shape.

I got Jennie out of the car, and she held my hand as he walked us inside, he looked at Jennie and she shook her head at him before he looked away making me look in confusion, but the guy gave me a smile.

"Welcome to my home" he sighed, grabbing a beer out of the fridge, it was big and nice. But messy

"Are there any beds?" i ask making him look at me.
