"Can't you drive faster?" - i yell at James who is currently acting like we're not late and is laughing with Xander about something stupid.
Me and Av are sitting in the backseat, currently losing our minds. I can't afford to be late again and neither can Av. Hell, neither can both James and Xander.
So i don't understand why they're acting like literal children.
"Calm down, geez you're very grumpy" today", sunshine "-he air quotes the word" today " to i guees identify that im always grumpy. It's because he's always being dumb. And is to cheery for my liking.
" Why are you driving so fucking slow, speed up! "-i hit him on the shoulder, well try to, these seats are very uncomfortable.
" Oh im sorry i don't want us to get a ticket and be even more late to school" - he glares at me from the upfront window.
"Oh and i also don't want someone to take my fucking car away!"
"Okay fine, just can you at least try to drive a little bit faster?" - i put on my best fake nice smile.
He just scoffs but also starts driving a little bit faster then before. Hey! I'll take what i can get.
After a very stressful ten minutes of all of us just yelling and fighting we made it to the school yard.
I get out of the car first, not waiting for them.
"We're so screwed!" - Av links my arm with hers.
"Hey i don't want to hear that negative attitude, i wanna hear you upbeat!" - i grab her arms and throw them in the air. She just laughs and shakes her head lightly. What she doesn't know is that i just quite literally quoted my favourite movie. And before you ask, yes" 10 things i hate about you "-is my favourite movie. It's a great movie! It's got literally almost any trope you can ask for!
The guys catch up with us soon enough and now the four of us are making our way inside when i realise something. I put a hand on Avery's stomach to stop her which makes the boys be physically forced to stop walking too.
"You guys aren't wearing uniforms" - i look at all three of them, looking like i just figured out the cure of cancer.
"Shit"
"Fuck"
"Damn" - they all said those words at the same time and i can't help but laugh at their coordination.
"Are you laughing at our very sad situation, dearest Jade?" - James says trying to act serious but the smirk forming in his face gives it away.
"Oh i would never, ever do that" - i put a hand on my chest, acting offended.
"Really, cause that's what it seems like to me" - he messes my hair up, his favourite habitat.
"Well then you need to get your eyes checked" - as soon as that leaves my mouth i cover my mouth from embarrassment. Why did i just say that?
"W-what?" - James lets out a small, maybe a little bit adorable laugh.
"And maybe you should get your comebacks cheeked, it looks like they're not doing very well at the moment" - he plays along to my awkwardness and embarrassment.
Im actually thankful for that because that makes Av and Xander completely focused on what im gonna say next and not at my statement. Which i don't think they would really say anything just laugh.
I guees i sometimes forget that they're not like the people from middle school. Not him. They're my friends. My real friends.
"Oh yeah you really need to get them cheeked because you have never thought this long for one" - James counties his taunting.
