THIRD PERSON'S POV
Rushing in the gym of SeaBrook High, Willa frowned and instant regret washed over her.
She'd seen the small crowd of people who waited afterwards were leaving. She watched as Addison had pointed her out to River. River lifts her head up from putting her paints away and locks her eyes on Willa. A sigh fell from Rio's lips as she looks away from Willa and continues to pack her things. "Are you not going to go over there?" Addison asked.
"No, I'm going home" Rio answers.
"Besides why would I go over there when she can come to me? It's not like I'm the one who flaked on her girlfriend".
"She's totally right" Willa says as she makes it onto the stage with Rio, Jupiter, Addison.
"Willa" River rolled her eyes, not wanting to look at wolf. "We'll catch you later" Jupiter says as she and Addison walked off together. "Okay" River mumbles as she place her book bag over her shoulder. "Baby, I am so sorry!" Willa apologized as she came over to her girlfriend. River held her hand out before Willa could come any closer than she already was.
"Fuck you" She glared at the wolf.
"Okay, yeah. I deserve that but-" Willa says before she gets cut off by her girlfriend. "But nothing, Willa! You broke your promise" River said. She taps her foot on the stage floor and crossed her arms. "I really wanted you to be here but you weren't" River looks at Willa with a frown.
"Thank god Addison was here because if she wasn't" River sighed as she wipes her hands on her jeans before fanning herself; "...I would've gotten disqualified from the competition".
Willa jaw slightly clenched as she tried to stay calm. "Yeah, so grateful for her" She muttered, sarcastically as she scoffs. River tilts her head, confused; "What?". "Did you win?" Willa asked. "I don't know, maybe" River picked at her curls and she shrugs her shoulders.
"The judges said that they'll have the results by next week so we'll see who makes gets the scholarship then" River stated.
"Good, that's good" Willa nods as she moves a bit closer to Rio. "I guess. The wait is already killing me" River says while messing around with her bracelets. She pulled her eyebrows together as she looked up at the taller girl before her. "Wait— no. No, you need to tell me why you ditched me" Rio says as she goes off stage with Willa following after her.
"I...I lost track of time and ended up getting distracted with my thing with Wyatt" Willa said, truthfully as they both make it out of the gym and into the hallway of the school.
Willa stood in front of River and waited for her response. "Really? Distracted?" River questions as Willa nods her head. "Lykensen, if you can't tell me why the hell you actually flaked out on me then why are we even talking right now!?" River said out of anger. She pushed pass Willa and continued to leave.
"That is my actual reason, Riv!" Willa trailed behind her with a frown.
"I'm sorry, Baby. I'm sorry that I flaked and broke your promise" Willa stops Rio from walking by grabbing her hand and lacing them together.
River turns around and looks up to the brown eyes that belonged to Willa. "I can't even tell you how mad I am at you right now" River says. "Let me fix it!" Willa told her, pulling River closer to her. Willa placed a hand on her cheek and brushes her thumb against it. "Just tell me how I can make it up to you and I'll do it".
Willa's eyes were on River lips before they made eye contact and stared at each other.
River gulps as Willa slightly smiled. "God, she knows how much I like it when we keep eye contact" River thought. "Just tell me what I need to do" Willa words fell from her lips, softly almost as a whisper. River began to nod her head as she was about to give in. She then pulled herself out of the gaze they once held and looks down.
"I— Stop. I'm- I'm mad at you" River blushed.
Willa placed her hands in her pockets and bites down on her bottom lip, grinning at the fact she still had an affect on River even if she was pissed off at her.
"Just give me some time to cool off. We'll talk later, okay?" River said. Willa eyes lit up and she nods. "Yeah- yeah, okay" She replied, relieved. She didn't know if she was going to get the silent treatment or not but Rio's response made Willa feel a little better. River stood on her toes and kissed Willa's cheek.
After that, she left the school building to head home as planned.
Willa runs her hand through her wild curls and lets out a heavy sigh that she held in.
