The Heart Never Forgets

CHAPTER ONE

" Ms. Becky Armstrong?? ". Someone called Becky as soon as she reported herself on the first day of her work at Eden medical hospital.

" Yes, that's me ". Becky replied politely and gave a small smile to the person next to her. " I'm Heng, a surgeon here. I got the information that you will be assisting me with my surgeries starting today ". Heng raised an eyebrow to confirm the information he got from the hospital.

" Yes doctor that's right". Becky nodded her head. " Okay miss Armstrong, follow me ". Becky hurriedly started following Heng on his way.

For the first hour Heng provided her with access of medical supplies that would be required in case of emergency surgeries, introduced her to the nurses that will be working alongside her, showed her the medical wards and operation room.

" This is all you need to know about the hospital. If you face any difficulty you can ask the front desk or your fellow nurses. My job here is done and I can't spend anymore of my precious time with you now ". Heng said with a polite smile and patted Becky's back.

" Oh sorry doctor for the inconvenience ". Becky felt sorry that she wasted the surgeon's time on something so unimportant. " Oh Becky no need to be sorry. I like to give tour to the nurses that work alongside me, it was my personal choice. I'm just busy today that's all ". Heng said as he started walking away and went inside his office.

The first day was going well for Becky and she was well acquainted with the nurses here. It was around their break when the accident occured.

" Oh sorry Becky, i know this is your first day and you just got your break ". A nurse said with a little pout. " But Dr. Heng requires your assistance immediately as an accident happened this evening and the condition of the patient is serious ". Becky left her lunch and got up instantly and rushed towards the ER.

Becky didn't get time to eat her lunch this afternoon as she was with Dr. Heng and they were reviewing a patient medical status and now due to this emergency she was not able to have a proper meal.

" I can eat my food later but right now the most important thing is the patient's condition ". Becky thought to herself when she wore her surgery gown and gloves and went straight into the ER with medical supplies.

" What is the status? ". Heng asked the other nurse who was in before Becky. " The pulse is really weak and I think it would not be long before she gets a cardiac arrest ". The nurse started with the reports as Heng prepared himself for the surgery.

" Plus, there is a huge blow on the head we have stopped the bleeding temporarily but it requires your supervision, furthermore, the patient has a huge cut on her arm which is not fatal however with blood loss it can cause implications but the window glass which broke into pieces and imbedded in her stomach can be a problem".

At this point, the chances of the survival were very low as the patient lost a lot of blood and the injuries were in a bad condition, only a miracle can save her life.

After 6 hours of surgery we were able to stop the bleeding and stitch up her wounds but the success of the surgery can only be determined when the patient wakes up.

" She is in coma right now ". Heng sighed when he checked her vitals. " It is a miracle she is alive but upon reviewing her condition it is uncertain how long she is going to stay like this ". Heng looked at the person who's life he just saved.

" Her name is Freen Sarocha but look at her face right now she looks a little unrecognisable ". Heng gave a sad smile but Becky seemed a little confused. " Who is Freen Sarocha? ". Becky finally asked because after Heng's reaction it looked like she was very much famous in Thailand.
