CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR

Becky was silently crying the whole ride, Freen wasn't aware of what had happened, she was just focussed on the road and caressed Becky's thigh to provide comfort.

" I am sorry ". Becky mumbled, she thought that she ruined Freen's surprise and her event. " There's nothing to be sorry about love ". Freen gently squeezed Becky's thigh, Freen was anxious, she just wanted Becky to stop crying.

" I ruined your event ". Becky mumbled, sniffed and wiped her tears, the comments of those business partners were still in her mind and now her job as a nurse proved that they weren't so wrong about it, she would always have to run to the hospital whenever there was an emergency.

Would she be able to fulfill everything a relationship demands ?

" Becky, babe, Why are you saying that ? I told you it was over, the main purpose was to introduce the product and celebrate its launch ". Freen tried to reason with Becky as she didn't want her to feel that she was responsible for any of this.

Before Becky could say anything or Freen could reassure and comfort her, Becky's phone rang again.

( ON THE CALL )

Dr. Heng :- Becky, hurry up, her condition is critical, we are about to start the surgery but we would need your assistance.

Becky :- Dr. Heng I am on my way, there is no way I would leave her there alone, I need to be there, I need to save her, I need to help her.

Dr. Heng :- I am sorry I called you when you asked for an off, It is just that if we had Ms. Irin, if Ms. Irin wasn't the one who needed attention, if Ms. Irin didn't get into an accident.

Becky :- ( sighed ) Dr. Heng this is my job, it will always come before anything, I took an oath, I will always prioritise it, Just hold on, don't let her stop breathing.

Dr. Heng :- We are beginning the surgery now...

( END OF THE CALL )

Becky sighed and leaned back in the car seat, she felt that the car was moving at a slow speed, even if Freen was driving at the limit, she felt short of time.

" Becky, stop stressing, we will be there in 5 minutes ". Freen said and drove past the speed limit, she hopes that the police officer doesn't pull her over, she wants Becky to reach in time.

" Freen will she be okay ? ". Becky asked her, Freen nodded, she didn't know whose life was on the line here but she knew that it meant something to Becky.

" She will be okay, you will make sure of it, I know love ". Freen gently said as she stopped her car in front of the hospital, Becky left the car without saying a word.

" Good luck, love ". Freen whispered sitting there, alone in her car, she watched Becky's figure disappear into the hospital, the anxiety hadn't left her even for a minute, she was scared about this, if this doesn't go well, she is afraid what effect it would have on Becky.

At the moment, Freen's phone rang, she sighed and checked that the call was from the event manager.

( ON THE CALL )

Event Manager :- Ma'am, we didn't get your signal to fire the crackers, Is everything alright ?

Freen :- ( Sighed before replying ) Yeah everything is fine...

Event Manager :- So we should go ahead with firing the crackers ?

Freen :- That won't be necessary now, drop the idea, there is no need for firecrackers now.
