The Heart Never Forgets

CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT

Freen's POV :-

It has been exactly nine days since I chose to be with Cathy and in those nine days I haven't been to my penthouse, I simply spend my nights in my office or occasionally visit Cathy. The real reason behind me ignoring to go back to my penthouse is that I don't want to live in a place where I had so many memories with Becky.

I haven't even invited Cathy to my penthouse after we got back together, I just regularly send my maid to clean the house and return my keys and that's all. I know if I go back there before completely moving on from Becky, I would miss her desperately and I would regret the decision I made.

Nam hasn't called me after that day, I know she is not happy with my way of handling the situation and how I decided to avoid meeting Becky and provide her closure that is required to move on but somehow I couldn't find the strength in myself to face her again.

I can't break her heart and see her cry

I was lost in my thoughts when someone knocked on my office door. " Come in ". I gave my permission and my secretary, Richard entered with a file in his hand. " Ma'am you requested the past month's sales record. The sales department manager just dropped this file for you ". I nodded and Richard placed the file on my desk.

He was about to leave my office when he stopped and turned around to face me. " Yes, Richard ? ". I asked him as I was not sure why he awkward stood by the door. " There has been an unusual activity from our company bank accounts, this hasn't occurred in the last 4 months ". Richard was totally concerned about the issue which further made me worried.

" Can you please elaborate ? ". I raised my eyebrow, Richard sighed and brought his laptop to my desk. " Someone transferred around 100 thousand dollars from our company account to some unknown account in Korea. This has happened before, last transaction was around 4 months ago, the location was same but the account was different. ". He showed me our company bank account details and the history of transactions.

" The amount has been fixed for sometime, after each month 100 thousand dollars were transferred but during these 4 months no such transaction occurred ". This was suspicious, He was right that same amount of money was withdrawn from our accounts.

" For how long has this been going on ? ". I sternly asked him, why didn't he bring this to my attention sooner. " For a year Ma'am, at first you ignored this because the amount used to be just 50 thousand but it was double soon after that and in the start of this year around 1 million dollars were transferred ". Richard fumbled with his fingers, afraid of my outburst but I just sighed and nodded.

" Thank you for reminding me this, Richard can you give me all the details and email it to my personal email address ". I instructed him and he hurriedly left my office.

How could I not remember this ? This is an important information..

I was brought out of my trance when my phone ringed, sighingly I saw that it was Cathy who was calling me.

( ON THE CALL )

Cathy :- Hello Babe !!

( She was sounding quite cheerful today and it further infuriated me but I decided to ignore it )

Freen :- Hi Cathy

( I wanted to cut the call but I had to reluctantly continue with the conversation )

Cathy :- What are you up to, Babe ?

( She knows exactly what I am doing so why she is asking such useless questions, I sighed and massaged my temples, I should not be irritated with her and release my work stress on her )
