The Heart Never Forgets

CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

" What are you trying to say, Freen ? ". Becky asked her girlfriend with a quivering voice, she was scared of the idea that Freen actually wanted her ex-girlfriend back, scared that she might leave her.

" Bec, there are so many things going on in my mind right now, I have been having certain flashbacks recently and it has made me anxious ". Becky gulped, taking a deep breath in, hoping that it was not about her past lover, Freen sensed the tension in Becky's body so she brought her close in a hug.

" Don't overthink about us, I will never leave you ". Freen whispered in Becky's ear, Becky was surprised to see that Freen was aware of the issue that she was facing mentally right now, in that moment Becky also felt that she should be the one helping Freen, not the other way around.

" Can you tell me about your flashbacks ? I wanna help you, I wanna share your pain, babe ". Becky ran her fingers through Freen's hair as the older woman snuggled into her neck. " I am not sure where you start, everything is still foggy, there is just bits I remember which doesn't lead to a concrete memory ". Freen stared at Beck from where her head was snuggled and saw that the younger woman was already staring at her lovingly.

" It's okay, we can try to fit the puzzle pieces until we get the full memory ". Becky placed a kiss on Freen's forehead and then made her look into her eyes. " Why don't we eat breakfast and then back to the city ? And when I get back from work, we can share everything about it over dinner ? ". Becky suggested Freen and the older woman agreed immediately.

" Today I will cook breakfast for you ". Becky said proudly and Freen giggled. " You won't burn down my kitchen, right ? ". Freen joked while sniffing, Becky glared at her girlfriend and then went in kitchen, leaving Freen alone on the couch.

Becky was thinking about preparing a simple meal, she didn't know how to cook not like Freen, plus she was scared of actually burning down the house. Freen entered the kitchen, slowly, not letting Becky sense her presence. Freen came from behind and wrapped her arms around Becky's waist and rested her head on her girlfriend's shoulder, sudden contact made Becky flinch and then relax in Freen's hold.

" I am sorry ". Freen mumbled slowly which made Becky frown and then turn around in her hold to face her. " About what ? ". Becky asked cluelessly and Freen slightly smiled. " I am sorry about before, I know that I made you worried ". Becky wasn't sure why Freen felt that she needed to apologize but nonetheless she comforted her girlfriend. Becky tightly wrapped her arms around her waist and let Freen snuggle her head in her neck.

After a few moments, Freen let her go and then placed a soft kiss on Becky's forehead. " I know that I was joking about burning the kitchen down but I didn't think you would take it seriously ". Freen laughed a little while pointed towards the stove, Becky who was not aware about what Freen was trying to say so she turned around.

The eggs were completely burned, Becky cursed under her breath and tried to take the pan off the stove but Freen stopped her. " Let me do it, It might still be hot, I will do it, you go get changed, we will have breakfast in a nearby café, don't worry ". Becky shyly nodded and let Freen do it while she went to take a quick shower.

Both women knew that they needed to be on their way to the city soon if they didn't want to be late to work. " Becky, you have to eat properly, I don't care if we get late ". Freen was right now furious as Becky didn't want to have breakfast, she was more focused on getting to the hospital on time.

" It is okay, I normally don't eat breakfast before going to work ". Becky shrugged like it wasn't a big deal whereas it made Freen more worried than before, she was now more adamant to make Becky eat breakfast. She pulled into a drive thru and ordered their breakfast.
