"Why are we standing here again?" Aiden asked as he, Mike, Will,Lucas and Dustin stood behind a fence watching Max skate around.
"Observing" Dustin said.
"Feels more like spying" Aiden crossed his arms.
"There's no way that's madmax" Mike said.
"Well she is" Aiden rolled his eyes.
"But girls don't play video games" Will said.
"Yeah and even if they do... Seven hundred thousand points on dig dug?" Mike added. "It's impossible"
"Yeah, until Aiden did it" Lucas pointed out.
"And her name is Max" Lucas added.
"So what?" Mike asked.
"Max? Madmax?" Aiden looked at Mike. "Isn't it obvious?"
"That doesn't mean anything" Mike countered.
"Well how many maxes do you know?" Aiden asked.
"I don't know..." Mike started.
"Zero, that's how many" Lucas finished for him.
Aiden let out a sigh. "Alright, this is stupid..."
Before the others could question it, Aiden walked around the fence and towards the redhead. Once he got close enough,he called out.
"Aye!" Aiden called. "Max!"
The redhead turned towards him but also lost balance on the board, causing her to fall. She would've hit the ground flat on her back had Aiden not grabbed her arm in time.
"I got you" Aiden grunted as he pulled her back up.
"Thanks" Max said. "That would've been embarrassing"
"Believe me,I can relate" Aiden said.
"I've run into you four times now, Cheater" Max pointed out. "you could at least give me your real name"
The Chakra user rolled his eyes before smiling a little.
"Aiden... Wheeler. Aiden Wheeler"
Aiden had gotten so used to introducing himself with his original last name that it almost slipped his mind every time that he'd been given a new one... A new identity.
A fresh start.
"Cool name you got," Max smirked. "I'm Max -"
"Max Mayfield" Aiden smiled before playfully extending his hand. "nice to meet you"
"How did you..." Max furrowed her eyebrows as she shook his hand.
"I might've nosed around and asked Mr Clarke" Aiden was surprised at how easily these lies were flowing out of his mouth.
"Hey," Max's voice dropped a little as she jerked her head towards the fence. "You know those guys?"
Aiden laughed a little and shook his head. "yeah... They're my friends"
"Why are they staring?"
"They're kinda upset about the high score thing" Aiden shrugged. "They can't believe you beat Dustin's score"
"Do you have a pen?" Max asked.
Aiden nodded and pulled a blue one out of his pocket.
"Thanks" Max took it immediately started writing on a piece of paper. Aiden knew what she was writing but still found it funny, even now that it was happening right in front of him.
