37. The Battle Of Starcourt

"The mind flayer built this monster in Hawkins to stop El,kill her and pave a way into our world" Mike explained. "And now it's apparently after Aiden too"

The group was now in the middle of the main floor. Aiden had his head on Max's shoulder as he sat on the bench next to her. He was still trying to recover from what'd just happened as he heard them all catch the adults up on what they missed.

"And it almost did," Nancy said. "that was just one of two pieces of it that were stuck I'm both El and Aiden"

"How big is this thing?" Hopper asked.

"Thirty feet at least" Aiden spoke up,his voice still raspy from all the screaming he'd done earlier.

"And it sorta destroyed your cabin," Lucas added.

"Sorry,Hop" Aiden chipped in. The older man sighed and nodded.

"So just to be clear" Steve said. "This big fleshy monster thing that hurt El and Denny is some kinda weapon?"

"Yes," Barb nodded.

"But instead of screws and metal, it's made out of melted people?" Steve asked.

"That is correct," Aiden nodded.

"Yeah, okay I'm just making sure" Steve nodded.

"Are we sure this thing is still alive?" Joyce asked.

"These two beat the shit out of it," Max pointed to Aiden and El.

"But it's still alive," Mel finished.

"But if we close the gate again-" Will started to piece it together.

"We cut the brain off from the body" Barb finished.

"And we kill it," Lucas finished.

"Hopefully," Aiden added. "It's starting to get annoying"

Murray then showed them the blueprints for the Russian base. After a little sass from Erica and pressuring from Dustin,the adults now had a plan to infiltrate the base.

Apparently, they'd been following the Russians like Dustin and the scoops troop,but once again Aiden never really paid much attention to this while watching the show originally... The one thing that changed however was Bob taking a bullet for Alexei and consequently dying in his place. The news made Aiden's heart sink into his stomach and probably lower.

Apparently some were just meant to die so the others could draw some kind of courage from it,no matter who tried to keep them alive.

"I'm sorry, Bob... Maybe you were just too good for this hellhole" Aiden whispered, adding a prayer for the deceased man and wondering how Joyce was taking this.

"Could've really used you guys down there" Dustin said. "especially you, Aiden"

"Could've used you up here too" Mike said.

"Yeah,dude," Aiden said. "you're like the brain behind all this"

"Plus we missed you" Will added.

"Big time," Lucas said.

"I missed you guys too. Big time" Dustin smiled. The four original party members all gathered until a group hugged for a while before pulling away briefly. Max and El soon walked over and the boys pulled them in as well.

"Aiden, Melanie," Mike called. "You two gonna get in here yourselves or should I make you?"

Aiden blinked in surprise before smiling and making his way to the rest of the party. Mel followed soon after and the whole party finally enjoyed a moment of peace.
