Aiden was not one for parties.
He'd much rather be in his room reading comics or Stephen King books (which had started to grow on him lately), listening to music... hell he'd rather be fast asleep. But unfortunately Lucas got invited to a party thrown by Andy and Jason and he was allowed to bring friends. So here Aiden was in the only quiet corner of an otherwise crowded room full of people, music, drinks and cigarettes.
Hella cigarettes.
Man, these kids smoked like hell and most of em weren't past 16. Aiden was thankful vaping hadn't been invented yet.
He really wished he'd brought a book. There was less than no way he could use or even bring his phone as he was still very much in a time period where desktops were the only way to access what little of Internet existed.
He heard a familiar laugh, one he always loved to hear.m in fact, causing him to turn his head in the direction of a certain ginger who sat with Patrick and some other jocks on the other side of the room, smiling and batting her eyelashes at him. Aiden shook his head and closed his eyes at the sight, letting a sigh escape his lips.
He and Max had gotten into a fight earlier that day. At some point he'd gotten tired and apologized to restore peace but Max was not having it. And since they'd both been invited to a party, Max had taken the opportunity to teach her boyfriend a "lesson". As much as the sight in front of him irked him, Aiden didn't have the mental strength to even develop any jealousy. He was already out of his element just by being in this place, he wasn't ready to cause a scene on top of that, so he let the girl go ahead with whatever she thought she was doing.
Their eyes met once, with Aiden having to resist the urge to shrug at her before leaning his head back against the couch he sat on. He honestly was just waiting for Lucas to have his fun so they could go home.
"Surprised to see a pretty boy sitting alone at a party like this"
Prying his eyes off the ceiling, Aiden looked in front of him to see someone he hadn't expected to be talking to him.
"Jennifer?" Aiden raised an eyebrow. Why on earth was Jennifer Hayes talking to him?
"Please, you're friends with my sister" the girl walked closer. "just Jenny's fine. And you're Aiden right?"
The light skin boy nodded. "that's me"
"My sister mentions you a lot" Jennifer smiled a little. "says you're a handful"
"Yeah and so is she" Aiden's mind went to Mel and he couldn't help but smile.
"Back to my question though, you here alone?" Jennifer asked as she sat down next to him.
"I guess" Aiden snorted.
"Why aren't you talking to anyone?" She looked at him curiously.
"Parties aren't my thing. I'm just here for my guy Lucas" he shrugged while playing with his hair.
"Well it's a good thing I showed up then" she sent Aiden a smirk. "That way I could make it less boring"
"I wonder how you'd manage to do that" Aiden replied.
Before Jenny could reply, a voice cut them off.
"Excuse me"
Both of them looked up to see a pretty pissed looking Max with folded arms staring at them.
'oh, this should be fun...'
"Can we help you?" Jenny asked.
"Yeah," Max snapped. "By getting lost. Stay away from him"
"And who are you to tell me that?" Jenny started to stand up and walk towards Max.
"His girlfriend, now back the fuck off" Max stepped closer to Jenny till she was inches away from her face. "The only reason I'm not hitting you right now is cause you're my best friend's sister"
Aiden just looked between both girls like he watching Wrestlers talk smack before a match.
Suddenly, the ginger walked up to him, pulling him out of the chair by the collar of his black and red flannel.
"The fuck- ow, ow ow..." Aiden's complaint was cut short as Max dragged him across the room by his dreads.
Once they got to an empty hallway, she harshly let him go.
"What is your deal?!" Aiden complained as he held his head.
"You're flirting with a knockoff of Melanie, that's my problem!" Max spoke. "You were just sitting there, giggling at whatever she said while she flipped her stupid hair"
"First of all, I'm pretty sure you're seeing things. The most I did was smile" Aiden rolled his eyes. "Second, why do you even care? You've been the one flirting with Patrick and whoever else all night"
"It's not the same" Max shot back.
"Spare me the bullshit, Max" Aiden sighed. "You wanted me to be jealous and got mad that I didn't. To make things worse, karma pulled an uno reverse card on you and now you're jealous"
"What the hell is an uno reverse card?" Max asked, only to cut him off as Aiden was about to explain. "y'know what? Just shut up"
"You're mad cause your plan flipped on it's head" Aiden was now trying not to laugh his ass off as Max's face seemed to get redder.
"Shut up!" Max shoved him, sending him against the wall. The ginger then wasted no time to smash their lips together and Aiden immediately kissed back, wrapping his arms around her waist while her hands found his shirt dreads. Soon enough the kiss intensified, with Max pressing their bodies together and wrapping her legs around his waist. She could feel Aiden smiling against her lips, trying not to laugh.
"Can we go home now?" Aiden asked once they pulled away for air. They'd just remembered that they were still in someone's hallway.
"In a second," Max smiled before pulling him in once again.
