44. Roller Revenge

"Aiden... Aiden"

The boy once again shot up with a gasp, only to be gently pushed back down.

"Hey,hey" he heard a familiar voice. "It's okay, you're okay..."

Looking to his left,he saw Max looking at him,hand on his shoulder. His eyes travelled a little further and he realised he was in the backseat of Steve's car, everyone looked at him in concern.

"You okay,kid?" Steve asked.

"Yeah,you like completely blacked out," Robin added.

By this time he was calm and out of his daze completely.. just wondering how they'd managed to get him into the car while he was unconscious.

"Hey, Mom, Dad" he gave a tired smile to both older teens. "Yeah,I'm good"

Robin gave a smile to the boy as they eventually arrived at the trailer park.

"Looks like we're here," Dustin said. Looking ahead,Aiden saw his sister with tears in her eyes.. for the first time in a while,she looked frightened,confused.

Lost.

He and the others started to clamber out of the car and looked at her. Nancy's facial expression slightly changed when her eyes landed on them.

She walked away from the crime scene and towards them. Aiden immediately headed towards her as well, knowing what she'd just seen had shaken her. Reaching her first,he pulled her into a hug, rubbing his hands up and down her back despite the slight height difference between the two.

The group sat on a picnic bench in the trailer park twenty minutes later. Aiden was sitting next to Nancy, making sure to hold her hand while everyone else explained Vecna to Nancy.

"So you're saying this thing that killed Fred and Chrissy was from the Upside Down" Nancy asked.

"Yeah," Aiden nodded.

"Is it the same thing you saw?" She looked at him.

"I blacked out again just under an hour ago..." He admitted. "So I think it is"

"Wait, again?" Max asked. "this happened before?"

"Yeah," Nancy replied. "Two nights ago, around the same time Chrissy died"

"So, Aiden's somehow connected to Vecna" Dustin theorised. "And he sees it whenever Vecna kills someone"

"Yeah, pretty much," Aiden nodded. "It's like I'm mentally connected to him somehow"

"Like El's mental link" Max realised.

"Can he see you when you're in there?" Dustin asked.

Aiden remembered the bastard turning around to smile at him right after killing Chrissy.. and the fact that he called him by his name.

"Yeah..." He shuddered, causing Nancy to squeeze his hand gently. "Yeah,he can"

"But why you?" Robin asked. "Why would he want you to see it?"

"Probably the same reason the mind flayer told El his plan last year" Dustin said. "Vecna must know Aiden is a threat to his plans,so he's trying to scare him... To traumatise him"

"If he's mentally connected to me, then he really should know I'm not new to trauma" Aiden said simply.

"If he's doing the mind flayer's bidding, or he just loves killing random teens,we don't know, " Dustin added.

"All we know is this is something new," Max said.

The next few minutes followed the group agreeing to check with Mrs Kelley to see what was responsible for both Chrissy and Fred's behaviour,but Nancy and Robin decided to head in a separate direction to test a theory Nancy claimed to have.
