Aiden's feet rapidly hit the tarred ground as he rushed past cars and people, his own rapid heartbeat audible in his ears. The sky was lightly cloudy as he tried to make it through the streets as fast as he could.

He needed to make it.

It couldn't be true. It couldn't be...

So caught up in his thoughts, Aiden didn't realize that a car was close to him, coming at him from the left till the driver honked at him, causing him to almost fall over from being started. He waved in apology to the driver but didn't stop once, even as his legs ached.

It wasn't far...

Soon enough, the bridge came into sight and Aiden increased his speed as much as he could. As he got closer, he saw him, legs already hanging over the edge as he looked downward into the water. Aiden couldn't see his facial expression but his body language made it clear.

He was going to do it. .

Aiden hastened his steps as he tried to close the distance, his breathing getting heavier.

"Dude, stop!" Aiden yelled. He didn't seem to hear him.

"Don't do it,man!"

The boy looked down, seemingly unaware of everything else around him and lost in thought.

Aiden then realized that words wouldn't be able to reach him,he had to get to him fast. He was almost there, just a few more feet...

The boy let out a sigh, looking over the edge.

'Don't do it... Please'

He leaned forward and let himself fall into the water below, Aiden's fingers barely grazing the fabric of his sweatshirt as he went down.

No...

"Kyle!"

The loud splash of water was what registered in Aiden's consciousness and confirmed to him that he was gone

..........

"No!" Aiden screamed as he shot up out of his bed.

"Aiden"

Aiden turned to his right and saw Nancy at his bedroom door. she initially came to wake him up but saw him suddenly wake up on his own.

"Are you okay?" She asked. It was a rhetorical question as she saw the tear drops in the corners of his eyes.

Aiden tightened his eyes shit and tried to wipe them on his sleeve.

"You don't have to hide it" Nancy got closer to him and sat on his bed. "You saw him again..."

Aiden nodded silently, about to start crying again.

Nancy immediately pulled him into a hug and he let his tears loose on her shoulder.

"It's okay, Denny..." Nancy stroked his hair. "it's okay"

Aiden's heart ached as the events flashed through his mind.

"I miss him,so much..." He choked out. He occasionally had this same dream but no matter how many times he saw it... No matter how many times he saw him ,it always broke him.

"Shhhh... It's okay" Nancy whispered as she rocked him back and forth.

Aiden arrived at school later that day in a navy blue hoodie, black jeans and black and white Vans. After reassuring Nancy that he was okay, he'd hooped into the shower and dressed up, trying to keep his thoughts in check, which usually wasn't that hard. He didn't have this dream too often but when he did it always shook him badly.
