57. The War Zone

A little while later, the group had decided to head to War Zone to get their weapons, but they needed transportation. Transportation which Eddie volunteered to help them acquire through... Unconventional means.

"I really hope you know what you're doing" Aiden said as Max looked through her closet for a certain mask.

"You don't really know what you're doing either so I guess we're even" Max replied.

"I have powers to defend myself," Aiden pointed out as he threw his head back a little. "you don't"

"If you use your clones, he won't buy it," Max sighed. "He'd smell a trap and almost immediately warn the snake, then they'd both go after you and I doubt you can fight them both at once"

"We don't know that," Aiden shrugged.

"C'mon, Aiden" Max rolled her eyes. "You only fought one other ninja in the Upside Down and you barely came back alive"

"First of all, fighting Itachi is no joke to any ninja," Aiden said. "Also,I was spamming clones to keep the bats away from Steve, at the same time using lightning, fire, wind, and I needed to separate Itachi's soul and body... All while I was in Sage Mode"

"You're making my point for me" Max finally turned to look at him and the boy let out a sigh.

"I just... I really don't want anything to happen to you too" He finally let out. "I've lost enough people already.. but please,not you"

"I understand," Max leaned in and gave him a quick peck on his lips. "I know the dangers too.. but you won't lose me. We know he uses his targets' darkest memories against them. So I'll run in the opposite direction. I'll run to the light"

Aiden bit his lower lip a little before letting out another sigh.

"Alright," he nodded, his dreads bouncing on his forehead. "You win, Mayfield. But I'm leaving a clone out to watch you. If anything remotely goes wrong, he's going in there to get you"

"Deal" Max smiled. "And you, be careful fighting that creep, only you know what he's capable of. If I make it out and find that something's wrong or you're in there too long , I'm breaking out Tyler and Josh"

"Deal" Aiden nodded before scanning the room. "Now where's your Michael Myers mask?"

In response, Max immediately tapped his shoulder and Aiden turned around to face her only to meet the familiar mask.

"Jesus Christ!" Aiden jumped back, causing Max to laugh.

"I thought you'd see this coming" the redhead giggled.

"I'm not all-knowing" Aiden helped his chest as he caught his breath.

"I guess you're still easily scared," Max smirked.

"Yeah, yeah use it against me" Aiden rolled his eyes.

"Aww, come here baby..." Max playfully spread her arms out to her boyfriend.

"You gave me a heart attack! Leave me alone, woman" he pouted.

"You're such a drama queen" Max rolled her eyes as she fully wrapped her arms around him. "oh that reminds me!"

"What?" Aiden watched as the redhead ransacked her closet once again. "Dude, what're you looking for?"

"Just a second-" Max replied before pulling out a piece of clothing. "there!"

Max fully unfolded it to reveal a black hoodie;  a familiar word printed in a blue lightning font across the chest. It was Aiden's Revenge hoodie, the same hoodie Max had worn after they'd all walked under the rain to find Billy and Heather.
