13. Finding Dart

"This is the reason I was late for class" Dustin pointed at the trap which currently held Dart. He, Aiden, Lucas and Max were back in the classroom showing the new "discovery" to Mr Clarke,which Aiden was still seriously against.

"Pretty neat" Mr Clarke commented. "these door function?"

"Well yeah, obviously" Dustin said. "but it's what's inside... This may change your perception of the world"

"Consider my interest piqued " Mr Clarke smiled.

"First,just to clarify..." Dustin said.  "This is my discovery and not yours"

Aiden shook his head and Max seemed to notice.

"What's up with you?' She whispered to him. "You've been acting weird since Dustin showed us Dart"

"I really don't feel good about this" Aiden replied.

"Aw,come on, curls" Max ruffled his hair. "lighten up"

"Jesus, Dustin!" Lucas snapped. "just show him!"

"I'm just saying-"

"Dustin!" Max added.

"Okay, okay" Dustin reached to open the box but was stopped by Mike bursting through the door.

"I'm sorry, Mr Clarke,it was just a stupid prank" Mike said, taking the trap with him."we need to go right now"

"Mike,what-" Dustin asked.

"Right now!"

All the kids followed Mike out of the classroom and towards the AV room.

"Not you" Mike stopped Max as she tried to enter the room.

"Dude!" Aiden yelled.

"Stay out of this, Aiden!"

"No,if she's not staying then neither am I" Aiden glared back at his adoptive brother but Mike ended up slamming the door on Max before the boy could walk through.

"You and Will heard something like Dart when he had his episode yesterday" Mike looked directly into Aiden's eyes.

"Yeah,we did" Aiden said.

"Wait... when did you start having episodes too?" Lucas asked.

"Since that night at the arcade" Aiden replied.

"Why didn't you tell us??" Dustin asked and Lucas nodded in agreement.

"Cause even I don't understand what the fuck is going on!" Aiden raised his hands. "one second, I'm here and the next, Will and I are in the Upside Down with a giant spider monster looking at us"

"So you knew Dart was from the Upside Down and you didn't say anything?" Mike asked the light-skin boy.

"I've been telling you guys not to take him to Mr Clarke, what're you? Dense?" Aiden shot back, gesturing out the door where Max was still waiting. "I couldn't explicitly mention an alternate dimension around someone who knows nothing about it"

"Fine,you wanna be with her so bad?" Mike asked. "Go"

Aiden shook his head and walked out the door without a second thought. "Dickhead"

Heading out the room, Aiden met Max who was still waiting outside, but now had company.

"Melanie?" He raised his eyebrows.

"What's up?" The brunette cracked a smile at him. "You guys done with your nerd meeting?"

Aiden snorted. "nope,I got kicked out"
