She didn't even know why she was here.

No, that was a lie. She was dragged here by her best friends, Lance and Hunk.

Not dragged, that made it sound like she was kidnapped by her friends. Her friend's always respected her boundaries as she respected their own.

She was here because both Lance and Hunk had always wanted to go to some kind of party at least once in their life.

Neither were popular during their school years meaning no house parties or were invited to any either. When she met them in collage, a teen who had graduated high school two years before anyone else in her age group, no one was willing an underage brat to learn any parties. She had always mentioned the two of them go without her since she wasn't a party person, but they wanted to have a good time with all their friends.

The three of them were a trio, they didn't let anyone feel left out.

So, now they're all legally adults by being in their mid-late twenties, they jumped on the chance to party. None of them ever went to clubs or did the night outs. But Lance had came across a flyer for a new years party in some public hall and excitedly passed the news on.

Hunk wasn't brave enough to go alone but really wanted to go. Lance was thrilled to have the chance to experience a party but wasn't confidence enough to stroll in alone either. Katie was going as their emotional support friend who'd make sure they're both safely seen home and bite anyone who ended up upsetting them.

Her brother even had bail money set aside in case she picked a fight with anyone who ruined her best friend's experience of a party.

Her parents purposely wasn't told she was spending her new years eve night at a public party since they knew it wasn't her type of thing and would most likely end up arriving to keep an eye on her. Knowing she'd hit someone with a chair since she couldn't throw a punch.

Hence, she was stuck at a party.

A very busy, loud, smelly and drunk party.

She'd found a safe corner to hide in, staying away from the floor above since she wasn't going to risk herself being knocked about and accidently pushed over the railings above. She also kept a clear distance from the overly crowd dance floor where all bodies were wedged togehter and people had to be yanked out to escape from the dance floor.

She was on her second lemonade, not much of an alcoholic drinker, never liked the taste. She's never gotten drunk either, something both Lance and Hunk had called her smart for. Lance had loved the idea of being drunk and drinking until he woke up the next morning feel awful and holding no memory. Hunk woke up with so many regrets that he lays awake some nights when he remembers his first and last time of being drunk.

Now the two will have a few drinks and at most, get tipsy. Stopping as soon as they reach the tipsy stage as they want to drink for fun and feel relaxed and safe than to wake up hating themselves.
